Hendrick Motorsports 2022

Byron
Larson
Bowman
Elliott

Nice dead horse to beat on a first thread. Next, you are required to post a "has X lost a step?" or a "does X care any more?" thread.

Finally opened the registration. Well how do you pick against Larson?Anyway all the drivers are skilled, best there is.All are capable on any given day.

Larson
Byron
Elliott
Bowman

Larson is the defending champ so it's hard to bet against him. Byron is having a breakout season. Elliott is probably due for some wins. Being able to say that Bowman is last on the pecking order shows you how good Hendrick is. His eye for talent is impeccable.

Two-thirds of the garage would give their left one to be the weak sister at HMS
I absolutely agree. But I also have a feeling that Rick Hendrick may have a different pecking order in his head then a lot of the fans do. If Bowman hadn't been punted out of a win at COTA, then Bowman and Byron would be leading the pack in wins, not just at HMS but also including all of the other drivers in the new cars. I have a feeling he looks a little more in depth then the NASCAR points system to evaluate his driver's talent.

Bowman just doesn't have the consistency. Half the races he is fighting for the win but the other half he is fighting for 15-20th.

Larson. He's the reigning,defending,undisputed Champion

I don't think Hendrick is all that concerned about drivers successes as long as they fit his racing model unless they don't fit. Examples are keeping Kahne for years of non producing and in turn giving him a golden parachute of a years salary and a job with another team when he cut him from the team. The other is getting rid of psycho Kyle who was a hot shoe but he didn't fit in. He has said publicly, I can't remember which driver, I know he did that for Johnson that they had a job as long as they wanted.

Larson
Bryron
Elliot/Bowman

Chase hasn't done crap on an oval in over a year and Bowman lacks consistency, so those 2 are a toss up to me

He is leading the series
yes. very aware (For the record, Chase is a top 4 driver IMO.... he'll get his wins this year and soon I'd bet). but you gotta keep in mind...... THOSE PLAYOFF POINTS!!! that Chase is sorely lacking at this current juncture might hamper him come PLAYOFF TIME!

A driver can only race as hard as the car will allow them. Harvick dominated a few years ago and then the next year they couldn't do anything and now with the new car he is back to competing for wins. He is the same driver just different car and different setups.

He's also like 8th in the playoff standings behind his 3 teamates....
That means very little to me. There are too many things out of a drivers control that can keep them from earning points. It only takes a couple bad races where a driver gets taken out due to no fault of their own and they will slide down the points ladder pretty fast. Now if none of this happened to a driver and they had a good car every weekend and they still were lacking in the points department then I would judge them a little more on their points.

Where he is at in the playoff standings will matter come The Southern 500 when the playoffs are in full bloom. To your point, if he doesnt have the requestite amount of playoff points and is starting behind guys that will have greater leeway for a problem or two, I'm afraid it's going to be a tougher road for Chase to make Phoenix. I do think he'll be okay, he'll get some wins here soon.

I agree, but I wasn't dismissing the value of points concerning the playoffs. I was dismissing the value of points to judge the talent of a driver over any other driver.

He gets a wad of points if he is leading the series at the end of the year being win less or not. And to think he won't at least win a race all year is just some of the nonsense that goes on around here lol.

Maybe not, but how many people said that about the #4 last season?

Since they haven't even run a quarter of the 2022 season races i think its too early to decide. Maybe you meant to ask 8 races into the season whats your order at Hendrick?
eh, he said current pecking order. I thought he meant up until now anyway. I wouldn't guess a yearly prediction, it's pretty useless this early.

Na I was just saying for this season cause I had someone tell me they had bowman #1 for this season so far so I wanted to see what people on here had to say

To be real honest, I dont think Rick cares who his #1 driver is. He wants any one of his cars to win each and every week. More money for Corvettes that way. Maybe Jeff Gordon can get in on that Corvette cash too.

Just finish first through fourth, he doesn’t care which order…

This is probably not a very good place to gauge anything about Bowman. He doesn't get a lot of respect here compared to other drivers. Bowman could be running in the top 5 or even leading the race and the drivers in 20th will get more attention. I don't understand it sometimes, but he doesn't like a lot of attention anyway so I doubt he would be complaining. The important thing is that Dale JR liked him enough to get him in at HMS and from there he has grown a great friendship with Mr. H, Jeff Gordon, and his sponsors. They have enough respect for him that they even sponsor his dirt car. So I think he will be around for many years and will probably have a championship or two before it's all over...and by then who knows, Jeff might be ready to retire again and Bowman might take his place like he did Dale Jr and Jimmie Johnsons place. :)
