Bubba in the 45

LMAO, what? Secret, under the radar deal? Owners points??
how much money do the owners win for first place?
Yes, I sit on here all waking hours of my night and day, just waiting, anticipating the chance to reply to you.
The reason you don't have an answer and won't have one is because what is paid out for the owner's championship flies under the radar, is private and the general public isn't included.

Can you think of one?
I think there could be a possibility of a preemptive strike. (I DO NOT THINK THIS WILL EVER HAPPEN)
If the 2 was on the cusp of being eliminated during the first round of the championship a driver swap could be initiated and the 2 could continue to accrue owner points while Blaney would still receive driver points.
Again, this move would have to be made pre-elimination.

Guy drinks 3 beers in five minutes ...

Interesting. I think you’d have to have a valid reason for making the swap.

“My gramma died” ... “The dog ate my homework” ... sumthin’ like that. 🥸

Burp-
The valid reason would be that the 12 is not eligible for the owner's championship and I would rather have Blaney vying for that title than Cindric.
Same as the 23XI situation.

Not unless Blaney won the last race of the round in that car.

The 2 still wouldn't have enough points to continue otherwise.

It's a privately owned sports league. Your expectations do not come anywhere near to matching reality here, as usual.

In this purely hypothetical situation I do not believe you are correct

No.

Driver and car number are eliminated together.
But the thing is, the 12 car isn’t in the owner playoffs. So Ryan can advance but the 12 car can’t. If the only reason Cindric doesn’t move on, is because Ryan is the one who finished ahead of him, then the 2 car could very likely be in it still (depending on what Bubba does in the 45) by the 2 car being 12th in the owner points, and not being eliminated.

Can't make this **** up lol

I'm still not grasping why this is such a big deal.

Would I want Kurt to come back in the middle of this standoff and be off the pace to compete? Or keep the driver that's been on a roll for the team to keep the momentum going?

IMHO, its not hard to understand. This money is a big deal for the team and with Kurt still recovering, 23XI has their primary bullet in the chamber. Last thing I would want is for Kurt to be placed back into the 45 and be off the pace. Let Kurt focus on getting back into the swing of things, if he decides to return for some races at the end of the season.

Another example of no one caring about the owner's championship - except the owners. Ask any random fan which team who won it in 2017, 2013. If that's what they want to do, then fine. Because it's Bubba, this thread is already several pages long.

I completely understand the logic used to make this decision and its sound. But I personally don't like these types of games. Reminds me of the selling of owners points prior to each season before we had charters and I can see this getting carried away.

That's where you lose me, its not a game. Every team has a designated owner of an entry, it does not matter the driver in the car. It's about how close to the front you can get with this because this was the charter from StarCom. It's just like with JDM in Xfinity, Vargas may have to sit out a race. Or no different in what Jesse Iwuji is doing every week with Kyle Weatherman.

I don't see how its a game when this is well within the rulebook. I respect the standing though. 23XI is trying to maximize profit off of purchasing this charter and Ty is improving every week. This gives Ty the chance to just go out and gain more knowledge with the car. This gives Bubba more incentive every week with some "playoff" knowledge, its a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Bubba is the GOAT.

Keep him in the dang 23 next year (seriously).

Playoff knowledge. Bubba wasn't good enough to get into the playoffs. He doesn't even know what he is racing for except it is for the owners championship..whatever that is. Neither does anybody here except it's about owners making money.

It isn’t complicated.

23X1 would like to improve their situation in Owner Points and this is how they’ve chosen to do it. An improved position translates to a larger payday at season’s end. The business of professional racing.

There’s no need to ridicule anyone about this ... owners, drivers, forum posters or whomever.

Judging by Kurt's tweet, I think Bubba knows what is on the line here.

Sounds like two years of brand equity down the drain, but whatever it takes to get people to buy new T-shirts and diecasts...
I can honestly say I have never seen anyone wearing a Bubba T-shirt at the couple races I have been to since he moved to 23XI.

Are we sure there is not a scenario where this would be possible since there a different set of players in each championship chase?
It IS definitely possible, though extremely unlikely, but there have been a lot of firsts this year. I was just curious as to thoughts of whether Penske would actually be willing and reactions/opinions etc.

What game? This is like watching a hockey coach pull their goalie for an extra skater and then saying "I can see this getting carried away".

Why are you making this more convoluted than it actually is?

It's clear that owners points matter the most so teams could start changing drivers once they're eliminated from the drivers championship in the playoffs.

Teams that are already making the playoffs don't have other drivers that are worth swapping the primary driver out for. The primary driver is already plenty capable.

This is because a 23XI driver is on the sidelines. What do you expect to see, Hamlin get eliminated from the drivers playoffs in the round of 12 and then Joe Gibbs puts Truex in the 11 instead? Scenarios like that are not going to happen.

Also, this driver swap situation has been on the table for  years. It has been this way for a long, long time. This is not a new option for teams, or an exception being made for Toyota/Bubba/whatever. This has always been fair play.

This kind of thing goes on in Xfinity with a Ferris wheel of drivers all of the time, and nobody bats an eye.

(Unless it’s Kyle Busch.)

A lot of people don't even know that last year in the Xfinity series the 22 won the owners championship, while Hemric won the drivers.

Slow news day? I mean its a number swap for business purposes.Who cares about the owners "championship"? The owners. At the end of the year they have a big party and give the winner a Big Trophy, do a lot of back slapping and then they go count the money.

Yeah it's really nbd and I don't understand why anyone has an issue with it. They pay a lot of money to entertain us so I'll allow them to have a little treat in the form of swapping numbers
