2022 Dutch Grand Prix

Love it when F1 homefield wins.

Those flares remind me of raising our kids: tell them
not to do something and they do it even more .

Why didn't Hamilton ask for new soft tires like Russell did. Russell simply made the better choice for himself and his team included.

Maybe I missed something and Hamilton was denied a request for new tires in order to maintain the P1 postion, if he did I will walk my comments down knowing my
assumptions were wrong.
But I dont think that was the case, I am not aware of him asking for new softs like Russell did.

If my assumptions are correct Hamilton only frustrations should be about getting beat and I think he will see that in hindsight. He didn't get beat on poor team strategy. Verstappen was just too fast especially on new softs with 12 to go. He would have easily passed both of the Mercs on their old tires.

When Formula One gets so predictable I speed watch it on DVR. This year is predictable, but at least Verstappen has to fight for it every week. At least Mercedes now has a chance.

The thing with Tsunodo, if it's what some people are suspecting, is roughly equivalent to crash gate. Imaginbe the crying Red Bull would have done if a Williams

Also, as much as the Merc has been garbage all year, I don't blame Hamilton for being upset if strategy compromised a race he could have otherwise won. He probably didn't need to F bomb his own team, but I am sure they are already over it and looking at ways to improve for next week.

Russell made the right call for himself but it sounds as though they discussed this in the strategy meeting beforehand and decided upon going for the win, in this case with Russell acting as a buffer to the rest of the field for a bit. Merc seemed pretty hesitant to pit Russell but eventually acquiesced and Hamilton had no idea. Toto afterwards said they were going for the win as well. They didn’t really commit to it.

Most likely they were losing regardless with the VSC and safety car but an infinitesimally small chance is better than no chance. If they had both stayed out, restarted closer to the S/F line, and let Lewis build a gap for a lap maybe they have a tiny chance.
