Cup RACE thread ---- Kansas

“The trophy awarded to the top driver at all Kansas Speedway events is called “Soaring,” created by the Canadian artist May Marx. It’s valued at more than $10,000 and is one of the most coveted pieces of art in the racing community.”
Art is wasted on a savage like me. Should look great in Bubba’s trophy case.

Man, I had to leave in 2nd stage because we had tickets to Kevin Hart. They took our phones as soon as we got to arena, so I couldn't follow. Where did Bubba come from?!?!

Missed most of the race.......Did any cars display a tribute to 9/11 on their cars ????
I think the 45 and 5 were the only ones I noticed. I was ridiculed earlier in this thread for say I was disappointed there wasn't more....

Oh no!

That's unfortunate. Bubba was fast all race long. Only time he wasn't running top 4 was when he had to come through the field in second half. He did, ran down Bownman from 3 seconds back, lead the entire 3rd stage pretty much and checked out for the win.

Good to hear it was no fluke and there's nothing for the racist fans to cling to.

I searched and could not find very much at all.....well. so much for NASCAR's ''Patriotism''..

Looking at the Jayski paint scheme page I see "patriotic" looks for the 45, 5, 19, & 24. The 45 run the decal below.
O yeah I forgot the 19. Bass pro never disappoints in that area. I guess I'd have to look closer I thought the 24 was the normal Liberty scheme?

It was as legit of a win as there can be.

Wasn't a case where the best car, 2nd best car, and 3rd best car were taken out. 45 was the best car...loose wheel, driver had to come through the field, did so slowly and methodically and was in contention to start stage 3. Bubba drove a flawless, masterful race, and put the best car in victory lane, like it was his job to do.

19 was, imo, better in stage 1&2. But given all their issues, by the time Martin had track position, they seemed to have lost the balance and got passed by cars who couldn't sniff his bumper, legit win from Bubba.

This is great. Because it shows that with the right car, Bubba is capable of executing and winning in a pretty convincing fashion.

I would not be surprised to see him pull out 2-4 wins next year. This was a breakout race for him, imo.

More convincing of a win than we've ever seen from Ryan Blaney, who I love.

“Like I said in my interview post-race, there’s no way that Bubba ever expects me to give him anything,” Hamlin said. “He doesn’t. He wants to know that he went out here and earned the win today. And it was not given to him. My lap times those last 20 laps prove that I was giving it every single bit that I had, but he just out-executed us, out track positioned us and our cars today.”

Congrats to Bubba and the 45 team for a righteous race win. Passed the leader, gaped the field, then minded the gap all the way to the checkers. Hell yeah, Bubba! A classic old school stock car race.

What was really apparent to me is the excessive aero drag, and how that just saps the horsepower. I hope future evolution of the Next Gen car sheds a lot of drag, or adds 200 more horsepower. As it is now, the racing is good... but more acceleration off the corner and more braking at corner entry would make it even better...IMO.

Picture perfect story for Denny/Bubba here.

No way in hell Denny passes Bubba, even if he catches him.

I know all drivers want to win, but I think Denny would legitimately settle for second, even if he catches him. He just seems like that kind of dude.

WTF? Man, you are slandering both Hamlin and Bubba's race victory... out of thin air. No bueno.

Nah, it wasn't intended as slander. Not a chance. Just a guess. I figured Denny would have been content riding in P2 with his car out front by 2 seconds.

Obviously that wasn't the case.

If Denny would have been content letting bubba win then he should be relieved of his duties driving the 11.
