Joe Gibbs is letting the most talented driver he’s ever had in KFB walk over to RCR to replace that B+ driver Tyler Reddick who can only win on road courses and races where everyone else crashes. He’s replacing KFB with his little punk grandbaby Ty Gibbs who I guarantee you will not be a title contender in the 18 car in the next several years.

He sabotaged KFB’s engines, let Truex miss the playoffs, fired Matt Kenseth and then fired Erik Jones..... and now his own driver has founded another Toyota team to replace Gibbs as top dog.

I don’t think Gibbs cares about winning anymore. Is it fair to ask that? Does Joe Gibbs even care anymore?
 
OP might be trolling but it’s a valid question. The man should have paid Kyle Busch and/or been loyal to KB as a driver.

As a stock car driver I'd give smoke a slight edge but Kyle is no slouch. As far as overall driver talent, smoke is head and shoulders above Kyle

Nah, Joe Gibbs doesn’t care anymore. He’s just throwing down six figures on a roulette table. Red for sparing the engines, black for letting them go. AND HE’S ALWAYS BETTING ON BLACK! 😁
 
How many folks been hyped as a generational talent and then was a bust? Not saying Ty will be a bust, but it’s happened before and could happen again.

Andy is the only one calling him that, but he's the king of hyperbole, so it's to be expected.

Sammy Smith is doing just as well in the same car in ARCA. And just looking at Xfinity the past few years, Cole Custer, Chase Briscoe, and Noah Gragson have more wins in a season than Ty. He has a dozen starts now in Cup and has barely sniffed the top ten. Is he talented? Sure. Generational talent? El oh el.

The kid has been handed everything, given the best of the best at every level, and he doesn't seem to be mature enough to realize how lucky he is. I think his sense of entitlement will hold him back until he grows up.

I seen plenty of it other places, and Andy isn’t the only one here who hyped the kid up. Like I’m not gonna say he’s gonna suck, because I don’t know. Maybe he will be the next Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson. But he could also be the next Casey Atwood.

I personally haven’t found many generational talents lately with the way these series and development works. Ty Gibbs probably is one, but these guys look human sometimes quite often.

Even Tyler Reddick looked average in the 9 car before he started carving the field up in the Championship 4 race at Homestead.

I reserve all judgement on how great he is until I see a larger body of work outside of a JGR Xfinity car. Those cars have made more than one mortal look superhuman. So far, his Cup runs have reveled no super powers . He has performed about how I would expect a talented 20 year old rookie in a really good car to perform, but no more.
 
Starting to wonder a tiny bit on Cup side about Ty. Everyone pissed themselves and declared him Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon's love child after finishing what, 15th in his debut and he's done precisely nothing since. At what point are we allowed to notice?

How did you measure his performance? Finishing order is but one metric....The almighty Chase Elliott didn't start with top 5's and wins.....

Joe Gibbs cares. He is tired of KFB. KFB isn't winning anymore. Different direction. Could be the wrong one. Gonna be fun to find out.

Just because we didn’t like Kyle didn’t mean he didn’t deserve to stay in the 18. It’s pathetic.

Because today's society loves to speak in absolutes and recency bias clouds everyone's judgment. Everyone is the "GOAT" or they are the worst. Always one extreme or the other. IMO, there's a big difference between hyping the kid up and predicting success, and calling him a "generational superhuman talent"

Oh really. Last I checked he won the Bristol Dirt race and dominated the Southern 500. I’m tired of this narrative.

JGR doesn’t show much loyalty. I’m not the only race fan who says this, I’ll just leave it at that.

When he was contending for wins in his first season. Choking yes, but not running 15th. Cool your buns, I'm merely saying that he might not be the generational OMG talent he's being hyped as. If he wins Xfinity title, then your comparison to Chase will be valid.

Yes, I was just going to post on this. It's not an apples to apples comparison, because Chase ran those five "throwaway" races in 2015, but his first 11 races with his full time team netted three top 5's and a total of 7 top 10's. Granted, Ty is not with "his" team, but it is a full time team that put a driver in the playoffs this year. So far, in 11 starts, 1 top ten. This is not posted to slam Ty, I think his performance has been decent, and there have been some things out of his control, but this about keeping TY's and everyone else's performance and potential in perspective.

I don't know that loyalty had much to do with the relationship between Coach and Kyle. Kyle was winning lots of racing and had a huge major sponsor all those years, so it wasn't very hard to be loyal. The minute the wins slowed down and the sponsor left, Coach didn't waste any time kicking him to the curb. He's has also kicked several other good drivers to the curb. I think it is the football coach mentality. When a player no longer gets it done or fits in your program, you trade him or cut him. I think Kyle slit his own throat at JGR and Coach was looking for a convenient excuse to get rid of him, and the lack of sponsorship made that decision easy. Mr. H, certainly wasn't loyal to Kyle, he also used the first good excuse to get rid of him, a move I FULLY supported and still do to this day, even if he has had a lot more success than the guy who replaced him. At the end of the day, win or lose, I like to feel good about the people who drive for "my" team, and as hard as I tried, I was never alright with Kyle being at HMS. I didn't defend him then, I don't defend him now. I am more fascinated by the fact that despite Kyle's incredible resume, apparently only ONE team actually made him a serious job offer.

I agree. I have never understood why people can't seem to help themselves in declaring someone the next "greatest ever" before they have even gotten very far into it. I think that people tend to forget that often greatness relies on more than just that one person, and that circumstances, opportunities, desire, health and dozens of other things determine ultimate success. There are no guarantees. I ALWAYS get squeamish when people start heaping too much praise on people who have yet to actually do something. Just for example, I won't even BEGIN to speculate on how many championship or race wins Chase will end up. I don't have any idea, and I think it's absurd to to think anyone else does. Hell, he could pull a Carl Edwards next week and walk off into the sunset, or he could get a career ending injury in this stupid current race car. Who knows?

I could be dead wrong, but I just don't see that as a factor here. I think he's wanted Kyle gone for some time, and losing the mega sponsor made it easy. My guess is if another mega sponsor had stepped up, Coach would have sucked it up and kept him. Having Ty theoretically ready for Cup also made that decision easier, but I don't think it was the driving force. A seat was going to open up at JGR soon enough anyway, no need to hatch a diabolical scheme to make it happen a year early.
