“The question is obvious. Were his challenges a function of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy? It is entirely possible. The brain remains the great unknown and mental health diagnoses lack precision. Bobby East could easily have suffered from schizophrenia and much of his behavior is consistent with the label. Yet, trauma, whether physical or emotional, impacts the brain and subsequently behavior. It is a complicated matter to sort out. We will never have the complete answer.”

Truly a loss to the family and racing. The workings of a brain are more mysterious than the surface of the moon.
Thanks for this background story, aunty. I remember hearing about Bobby when he was killed. A real tragedy all around.

It is a sad story for sure and a lot to consider thanks for posting it.. I think his parents have lot of courage and strength for telling the story that needs to be told.

I think more people struggle mentally then we realize. This story made me think about a young man that worked for me that committed suicide earlier this year, or at least all the indicators makes it look that way.

He was the hardest working person. I ever managed. If I needed something done that was really difficult he was the one I could count on to get the job done without complaints and he surpassed all my expectations.
There were some times when he worked an entire 12 hour shift without taking a break. I learned that I would need to check on him to ensure he wasn't doing any more 12 hour shifts without taking a break.

He had small children and he told me his elementary age daughter was a daddies girl and she missed him terribly while he was working. I still think about her, the precious little heart and the heartaches she has had to endure this year. I hope and pray she will be okay.

I wish I had gotten to know him and understood him better. I don't know if I could made a difference but at least it would have been an attempt.
