Cup RACE thread --- Daytona

Nope. I'm here. DW at least paid attention and gave real reaction.

Rick Allen thinks he's calling the WWE, fake gravely voice and all.

Before he became a cartoon character, DW was fantastic analyst. As good as BP imo, Rick Allen isn’t good at his job. He’s a boob that ruins almost every big moment to get his catch phrases in.

What is most irritating about Rick Allen is how he uses a full 1-2 laps to make the race winning call. It's a bad look and so obviously over the top for anyone who isn't invested. My wife is extremely casual and she just won't watch NBC races with me because they're so horrible, coverage wise.

Remember Harvick's championship?

Allen Bestwick, silent the entire last lap, then a quick "he's gonna do it!'

Real play play.

Bestwick used to do the same thing at NBC.

It doesn’t bother me. Much better than listening to Bowyer.

Replacing Allen Bestwick with Bill Weber is an all time smooth brain move.
Then we brought in WWE Rick Allen, because the Network thinks NASCAR fans are a bunch of southern clowns who didn't pass grade school.

This. I was gonna say, is that poster 7? XD

Superspeedway racing was not like this, ever, until about 2015.
Single cars could control races, lines and drafts.

Same man. 31 here. Superspeedway racing wasn't like this in the early 2000s. They weren't packed up like this. More movement, more independent runs. The era dominated by Stewart, Gordon and Dale Jr had more spacing and cars could generate runs on their own and ride them out for multiple laps.

Thank goodness for commercials --- I get to breathe. LOL
the hell with commercial, I don't want to hear how great NBC is anymore they should have been able to sell something for a side-by-side show for the last race before the playoffs

Larson surprisingly playing well and helping the 9.
This is no surprise for a solid year now. He always asks about Chase, and has even said he's happy to help in win.

That demon.

I disagree.

Later era Gen 4 plate racing could be controlled by a single car, but only if it was an exceptionally prepared car. Plate racing was a chess match and you had to know which line to be in and when to go. Guys like Dale Earnhardt were legends at doing this. Single cars controlling lanes and lines were the exception, not the norm. Plate racing at its best is knowing where to be and when to be there.

There you have it, the demonic team destroying hellspawn of Larson is helping the 9.

Larson can either help or flounder around and fall to the back like he usually does. He might actually learn something 😉

Yes, but Dale was ahead of his time and he wouldn't stand out nearly as much. Especially in there cars and in this package. Cars sre just way too stuck together. Late era gen 4 had cars run car lengths apart. They're all on YouTube. Go check it out. It was totally a chess match, but there was absolutely more room for cars to make moves that didn't destroy track position.
