Storyline – Recommended air pressures in focus at Kansas: A return to Kansas Speedway means NASCAR Cup teams will be looking for speed while maintaining grip. Along with the car’s geometry settings, teams adjust air pressures in their tires to help achieve those goals. Goodyear works with teams each race to provide data to highlight the balance between grip and durability. Tires with lower air pressures over-deflect more, causing damage to the sidewall that can result in air loss.

“Being an intermediate track, we will see high speeds at Kansas Speedway,” said Greg Stucker, Goodyear’s director of racing. “Teams will try to maximize that speed by gaining grip, and one of the tuning tools they use is air pressure. We have a different right-side tire than Cup teams ran at Kansas last fall and it has a construction update we have been integrating into tracks as teams advance their set-ups and we continue to learn more about this Next Gen car. We have provided teams good data that shows the importance of running the minimum recommended air pressures at multiple car settings. Our engineers will also be at the track to work with teams further to evaluate where they’re at and what they can do to get maximum performance out of the tires.”

Notes – Right-side tire change for Cup at Kansas: Being on 18-inch bead diameter tires, NASCAR Cup teams will run a different tire set-up than those in the Craftsman Truck Series at Kansas this weekend . . . this is the same left-side tire code that Cup teams have run at Kansas since September 2022 . . . this is a different right-side code than these teams ran at this track last season . . . this right-side features a construction update compared to the 2023 version . . . Cup teams have run this same tire set-up at Las Vegas and Texas already this season . . . with this 18-inch tire, and its lower profile sidewall, Cup cars do not run inner liners in any of their tires.
 
Twas a beautiful day here in Kansas. My last non-Vegas NASCAR race was 2019 Bristol. It was nice to see/feel that NASCAR vibe outside the track again. Outside of a few NASCAR t-shirt wearers sitting at the slots, you obviously don't get that vibe in Vegas.

IDK about how you guys feel... but NASCAR fans are simply the best. Every time I walk into a track I can strike up a genuine conversation with a complete stranger. I love it. I'm 800 miles from home but feel so comfortable. You only get that with this fan base.

Did a nice walk through the campgrounds, TV compound, and hauler parking this evening. A nice walk... pretty tame. I'm sure tomorrow night will be livelier.

There is a TON of water on the ground. The dirt race I went to tonight almost didn't run and half the parking was flooded. The grounds here at the speedway are soaked. We are supposed to get rain here tonight and into the AM. Hopefully we do not have to contend with weepers but I certainly think track drying tomorrow will take longer than one would think just based on the forecast.
 
Puttering around here this am. Pretty nice fan zone area. Saw a lot more NASCAR installments rather than independent vendors. As I type this it is moderately drizzling hopefully truck p/q gets going on time

Just arrived! It’s chilly, but I’m at my happy place and that’s all that matters! Wasn’t sure I was gonna come today, but it’s been awhile since I have watched anything other than the cup cars, so I decided to go for it. It’s nice, because Sundays are super hectic at the track, so it’s nice being here on Saturday and having some breathing room. I’lll be here tomorrow with my brother and his kids, so today will be me time.
 
So all kinds of track activity today, but there was an awkward 2 hour break between ARCA and Cup P/Q. Walked over to the casino planning on dropping $50 on some video poker just to kill some time. I went in planning on losing it all. Put in the first $20, and literally my 3rd or 4th hand I got a quad of 2's. Cashed out with $100 in my pocket and walked out! Paid for the tickets this weekend which is nice. Ended up back at the hotel just to chill a bit!

I nearly left that break with $100 less in my pocket. Stood by the HMS merch trailer for like 15 minutes deciding whether I wanted to blow $100 on a new die-cast.

That's the way I played in my National Guard days. Walk in with fixed amout, walk out when it's gone or I was up 50%.
 
Larson is way overdue for another win here, and is due for another win this season period.

Blew $40 in over an hour at the casino so pretty happy that it killed that much time. Pissed at the weather. It was a decent forecast and now it's totally **** the bed. Plan is back to the hotel for the F1 race at 3pm CT and that'll finish and I doubt the track here will be ready. Ugh

Seems pessimistic and contradictory with what the weather reporters are tellings us.

Drivers were told that they have lights, and expect to the get race in today, even if it's the evening
