Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

just popped into the house and saw result page on tv. Ugh. Glad I didn’t watch any more after getting to my parents’ place.

Man that right front was ready to go. Heck of a win! Such a racy track, he just absolutely dominated today

I think Bowyer was confusing marbles flying and
tires coming apart there at the end. Sad about
Elliotts fade.

Kyle Larson has the championship on lock, IMO. He's in God mode. And since this car is all momentum and you have to rimride, there's no way in hell Kyle Larson doesn't win 10+ races and the championship.

With this ridiculous "Playoff" format, are you kidding? We saw what happened last year. A guy 17th in points sneaks in and wins it.

The only way he wins the championship is if no Penske or Gibbs cars make the final 4. Next year? Pencil him in. That’s the reality of the one race championship.

Larson, like everyone, is still vulnerable if he isn't leading. He fell back to 3rd and was off the 9's pace quite a bit when he lost the lead. Track position still rules. We saw it last week at Texas after he lost the lead too.

The car was going away in both cases. It's a razor thin area. Tires/tire management is really starting to play a role.

The championship race at Phoenix always makes me nervous. Anyways I have to watch today’s race it was DVR’d due to family commitments and I couldn’t watch in real time with y’all. To the DVR..

Personally I wouldn’t waste time watching it and I’d watch the highlight video on Youtube instead

Yawn. This media and fan base are the biggest obstacle to the sport getting back to its heyday or better yet, achieving another boom period. Another race, another upheaval about fans in stands or quality of a race. Rinse-Repeat.

That Bloomburg clown has been making a living deathbedding for years. I guess he forgot to mention the 7 year media contract, or the state of the economy.

I don't agree with any of that. How long did it take him to finally win at Homestead? He isn't a lock anywhere nor is anybody. He is the best driver in NASCAR and he is hot right now. That's it. Is he a good bet to win the title? No ****. Is he a lock? No. It's going to be fun to watch. The sport is healthier when one guy dominates, and the rest try to knock him off of his perch.

He and Bell are just on a different level right now. Reminds me of Harvick and Busch in 2018. I’d wager too many of the comments are similar to that season as well
Bell is close, but I think Larson is alone at the top. It will be fun to see if Bell can take another step.

I think, and it looks like Larson is starting to "get" the point racing concept. He is slowing down on trying to win the race with a 4th place car and wrecking it in the process.

To your point TV ratings are through the roof, Texas was comfortably ahead of last years ratings. I do think it's becoming harder and harder to draw at 2 race tracks in my opinion. I miss two dates at MIS but it's noticeable how much more amped our lone weekend is

While I agree I think Blaney is just a tad off. Wipe out some of his recent bad luck and with a bit more focus on his race craft more wins and playoff points should come his way. Of course this has been said for a few years now. I also wonder how much his lack of confidence might be affecting his performance.
