Not sure how much fanfare this thing’s gonna get but it could be interesting and keep the summer stretch fresh. I could see an odd bracket playing out with the first race at Atlanta and the next two on road/street courses.

The gerbils will have their work cut out for this one. Because they need a tag like they have for "March Madness" to give it some extra Bling.
One of the comments suggested setting up brackets, that could have some potential.

I'm not sure how much effect it's going to have on the racing, at least for the first three races. It's not like each pair going to be running side by side. Like the Phoenix finale, everyone is going to be affected by 35 other guys, with an increasing number of them having nothing on the line as this advances. The final two drivers may never be close to each other in the last race. Although based on what we see at Phoenix every year, the last two may well get the same mystery engines the championship finalists get, and somehow run beside each other up front all race.

What I can guarantee is the TNT booth will beat it to death. If you think Jeff Burton rants too much about playoff points, you better strap in.

I just think this is a nothing burger. Hope to be proven wrong, but there’s so much going on in a single race that it’ll take me some getting used to that there’s a bracket with money at stake.

I wouldn't make the effort but TNT isn't going to let me overlook it. Look for it to be featured in an overabundance of DraftKings ads, too. Gee, a gambling company sponsoring a bracket format ...

Very true. I totally forgot the tv announcer component of it. Playoff points and playoffs will be taking a back seat to “ Bracket and Seedings”. Blah, whatever. Attract those that gamble I guess.

The NBA’s In-Season Tournament became the NBA Cup in the second year so there’s plenty of room to innovate in the naming department.

It’s a bracketed event so I’m sure they’ll have bracket contests going on.

What's the math used in this seeding? And why isn't SVG a part of it?
SVG missed the cut as the field was set after taking the top 32 in points after Nashville.

Seeding is best on best finish across Michigan-Pocono, nothing to do with points or anything like that.

This thing will need a "March Madness" type of handle before it can reach the elusive "got game" and "word-up".

The stakes will be high, and there will be a lot of charging and blocking.
Hocevar will have to avoid getting into foul trouble.

So many opportunities for the gerbils.

Please don't try to sell me on the fact that this bunch of drivers came up with this in the first place. The B.S. meter is high on this nonsense.

I cannot believe NASCAR and TNT came up with this first and then happened to sign a bookie as the sponsor. DK noticed 32 drivers divided by five rounds equals the TNT schedule, made its pitch, and wrote a couple of checks. I have no evidence.

Just out of casual interest, is there any significance to the various colored blocks at each level? Thanks.

EDIT and I wonder if the majority of DraftKings' suckers 'gamers' will be motorsports fans or casuals who will bet on anything with a bracket.
My guess is it has something to do with the windshield banners they reference here:

I'm disappointed that they have left baseball out. Maybe they will get around to it next year. Maybe bring a bat Friday.
They already have the built in game seven season ending race.
It's also is almost guaranteed to feature a walk-off winner everytime.

We just need to start writing letters to Burton to tell him to get on the Mic.
To start calling the home runs, and steals when a season long underachiever steals it in the finale.
