Enough Is Enough Full Season Championship.

lol. You know its true bro, you cant show me where F1 beat NASCAR in America in the TV ratings. NASCAR was on a Cable broadcast ( FS1) and F1 was on ABC and we still beat those boring race driving snobs hahahahahahaha

Lol. Time for more B.S. and alibiing it looks like.

I still remember when Reddit told me that SVG would be a front runner competing for championships.

If you think the championship is a meaningless joke then you have plenty of other options for spending your Sunday afternoons.
Maybe some of us want to watch the race but still think the system ****** sucks. You know that's possible yeah? We don't gotta like everything nascar does to watch lmao

Watching the Earnhardt documentary I have to wonder how the whole history of the sport and legends like Petty, Earnhardt, Gordon, & Johnson would look with the current rules. Would we still have the amazing stories or would it just be watered down? Not saying that the playoffs don’t bring some excitement. Just made me wonder about the past. I got no answers, only questions.

You mentioned amazing stories. Those full season point battles were awesome when you got them. I really miss those, it was the main storyline of the whole year. Every race especially late in the season, everything felt so big.

NASCAR's playoffs don't add interest. NASCAR's playoffs don't add eyeballs. NASCAR's playoffs don't bring new fans or better ratings or really anything positive. The bottom line, playoffs don't make NASCAR any better.

NASCAR is still doing pretty well in spite of this ridiculous playoff BS, not because of it.

You can think the format sucks without trashing the prestige of the championship. ARCA Brakes is acting like a petulant child.
Maybe, but a lot of people act like you can't dare say **** about Nascar or you shouldn't watch. I don't think winning a championship is nowhere near as impressive as it once was. Even 2004-2013 is a better format.

I ask what prestige? The last two years have been filled with controversy. Both "winners" were products of the dog any pony show. Neither would have come close to winning the championship using a traditional points system and as quiet as it has been kept, many people know this and aren't blindly being herded like happy sheep.

NASCAR is a circus with a flawed playoff format.

But the champion satisfied the criteria better than his competitors. Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney are rightful champions, regardless of what special snowflakes think.

Thank you for your input baaaa.

Not being as impressive and winning by the rules can both be true.

well I would like to say, just because there is criteria that is met and rules that are enforced doesnt make them good. We can all probably think of something in real life that is like that, but to get to your point they're champions yes. But the Winston Cup was way harder to win than getting hot for 6 weeks and winning a one race championship. Respectfully imo.

I don’t disagree. My only point is that being a Cup Champion is still the pinnacle of stock car racing. It’s far from a meaningless joke to the guys competing for it.

Sure, but from a fan's perspective, it doesn't mean very much to a lot of us.

I can tell you every single champion, every year, from the '70s thru 2004. I can even name most from the "chase" era. But this modern one race format from the last decade? I couldn't care less who wins it. I barely even remember who won the title last year, and I watched every race. Honestly I lost a lot of interest once the playoffs started.

My whole point of this thread is that the championship IS being minimalized. I can not watch what they are doing with this clown show and think anything else. I watch for the racing, but it is B.S. like Arca Brakes says to have to sit there and watch half the race dedicated to cars making the cut line, tabulating playoff points, and various other horsesh*t nonsense.
I've seen enough disgust from drivers to know many aren't fans of it either with the race fixing, and drivers getting shot out of the saddle when a last place car gets a win and you are in spot knocking out a season of hard racing.
This isn't just an aw shucks getting bumped by a win and you are in driver in last place. When a driver doesn't make the chase it is a big money loss to the team and a competitor/team who are much better.
And then the press runs around and acts like he is a Cinderella of something. It's B.S.

Without the playoffs would anyone even care about a driver low enough in points to be knocked out of the playoffs by an underdog winner?

The playoffs do put attention on guys who might not otherwise get it.

Is a lot of us the 45K at Phoenix? I don't think so. Who the hell is "a lot of us?" I get that you don't like it, and there are others who share that view, but just like the Next Gen....Who the hell is that? NASCAR makes decisions on this group of "a lot of us," and I wonder who that is?

I love Logano's attitude after last year. It's the system. There will always be a system. Everybody knows what the system is....Penske does it better than everybody. They all know they need to be the best at Phoenix. Get better. If this thing changes, you can be rest assured that "a lot of us" will have an issue with it....again....and again...and again.

I remember people bitching in 2003 about how boring it was that Matt Kenseth was running away with it.

NASCAR fans will bitch about anything.

Smoke doesn't win ****...and then goes on a 5/10 tear in 2011. Championship ****.

That's arguable. I could call B.S. on that also. I mean wake up. Neither of those drivers had a championship record of performance. Look at their wins, top 5's and 10's

100%. The Championship event is big time sports stuff, and I love it....but there will be bitching. Always. I will miss it next year, but I am good if Phoenix moves to a third round event.

Of course it is arguable. That is why we are here. You hate the stick and ball references, and I get that.....however, I will make the case that the Kansas City Chiefs had a Championship year until they got beat in the Championship. This is about what constitutes a racing champion. There are those (probably "a lot of us") who believe that it is a body of work over time. There are those (maybe "some of us") who believe that the best bring it when it matters the most. Who is wrong? Nobody. Who is right? Both. My vote....Pick a system, and then everybody STFU, and let's get back to talking about cars, strategy, and drivers.

And right after that Brian France took a big snort of cocaine, and said we can't have that, lets go completely bonkers and make winning everything and wait! lets get the TV people involved...lets make it a spectacle.

It's game show B.S. it isn't racing.

Yeah but then he bitched when the system took a win from him at the All Star race. So he's only a fan when it helps. When it doesn't its a gimmick. So I can't take him seriously.

It is racing, you don’t just agree with it. The point system is an arbitrary value assigned to performance in racing. The Latford system was also flawed and some of the systems before it were even wackier than what we have now. If one system is a game show then so are all of them are.

It's game show B.S. it isn't racing.
Who defines racing? "Some of us?" "Most of us?" See this is the problem with attracting new fans. "Don't come with your perspective....we will tell you how it is based on the the way it always was....."

And right after that Brian France took a big snort of cocaine, and said we can't have that, lets go completely bonkers and make winning everything and wait! lets get the TV people involved...lets make it a spectacle.
Sometimes I wonder if Jim has the leftovers, honestly.

I've never liked having any single race matter more than the others. 'When it matters the most' should be every single week.
That is really a great perspective. I mean that, and I don't disagree, but how do you sell that? How does NASCAR get its Super Bowl moment? It deserves it IMO.

When does it cross the line into a made for TV game show? Sure looks to be the direction I see when a champion doesn't have the record to be one.
