Goodyear Racing Notes — Kansas Speedway
The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup awaiting NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series teams at Kansas Speedway introduces new right-side tire codes for both series.
These updated right-side tires have been developed to give teams more strategy options at Kansas and, for both series, the Kansas setup will return when NASCAR heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway next month.
Cup Series teams will pair the new right-side Goodyear Racing Eagle tire with a familiar left-side tire already used this season at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the August race at Darlington Raceway.
Xfinity Series teams will debut their new right-side tire matched with the same left-side option used at several tracks earlier in the year, including May’s consecutive speedway races at Texas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Nashville Superspeedway. Xfinity teams will also use inner liners at Kansas, as is customary on tracks 1-mile and longer.
“Kansas presents a unique set of conditions for teams – known for its relatively smooth surface, multiple grooves and close finishes – but recent races have shown notable tire wear,” explained Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear operations manager for global race tires. “For both series, new right-side tires are being introduced after undergoing construction changes to increase strategy options for the crew chiefs. This weekend, teams will need to balance grip with outright speed to maximize performance of these new Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setups.”
