WNBA 2025

A’ja Wilson, who has more free throws than any player in the league for four straight years, complaining about the refs is absolutely wild.

I like her less and less by the day.

Here it is, the single dumbest thing I have read all year.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, apparently. Phee had a lot more to say in the press conference where she mentioned this. I'm really proud of her for stepping up, speaking out, and going to bat for the rest of the players. Well done, Phee!

@muggle not, after hearing what Phee had to say, I agree with you.

WOW, I read the whole interview by Collier. My hat's off to her. She speaks the truth and has the guts to do so. Dump Englebert and bring in collier.

Just for the record Cathy, without Caitlin, your league wouldn’t have a quarter of the popularity it has now. Sure, Angel, Paige, A’ja, Phee and Sabrina are great and have fans, but nothing close to what Caitlin brings.

Caitlin could decide to go to Europe and ESPN, NBC, and VERSANT and Amazon would all be in a bidding war for Euroleague rights.

Caitlin was a household name in college. She is THE reason, THE ONLY REASON, the WNBA is a mainstream thing generating blockbuster ratings. Not Angel, not Paige, not Sabrina. Caitlin. Only Caitlin.

When she made her debut, the game got 2.1 million viewers, beating the previous all time viewership record by 2.1 million viewers.

She had endorsements with Nike, Gatorade and State Farm long before she walked her midwest white ass on that stage in the WNBA Draft.

Caitlin is the only reason there are threads about The W on a racing site.

Put some respect on her name, and more importantly, PAY THESE GIRLS, ALL OF THEM, AND GET BETTER REFS IN TO PROTECT THEM.

Better yet, resign and name Phee as league president.

Aside from all this there is a big game tonight. geez, I wish it started at 7:30 instead of 9:30. In any case I will watch the whole game.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Okay, she just earned herself a spot on the Honey Badger Favorite Players list.

Time to focus on the gane.

I hope Sophie is bare legs tonight rather than wearing pants or leggings. The crossed bare legs last Friday night was spiritual TV every time the camara followed the teams running by the bench.

Proof that there is a God, and that life is good and has a purpose. This is the part of the post where I would create a new word to express the wondermint, if my abilities to articulate matched the inspiration.

Note: I agree Caitlin Clark is underpaid and I am sure it is true for the entire league. I'm just thinking out loud or trying to understand the factors.

Is the women's pay in the WNBA balanced compared to the pay in the NBA, based on how much money the teams make?

I am not trying to play devil's advocate. The NBA obviously has more revenue. It is just hard to imagine that the pay gap would be so huge.

No, it isn't even close to balanced. What the ladies have been asking for from the W is not the same amount of money that NBA players get, but the same percentage of revenue sharing that the guys get from the NBA, or close to it. I think it's a fair ask, particularly given the explosion in popularity over the last couple years and the steady uptick that began post-COVID.

The C in Cathy's name stand for something seen in Toledo.

She ain't even denying that she said what Collier said she said. 😭😭😭😭😭

I obviously don't know her personally, but Phee has always come across to me as a quiet, humble, mild-mannered young lady. She's definitely not the type to stir up drama or anything like that. If she says that Cathy Engelbert said this stuff, I 100% believe her.

Unfortunately, Cathy seems to think the explosion in popularity and the media rights agreements are happening because of her leadership not in spite of it. She seems to think people are watching for the WNBA and not for Caitlin, Angel, Paige, A'ja, Sabrina and so on.

Dumb ****.

Lets take a look at a list of sponsorships and endorsements Caitlin Clark got before joining The W:

Hy-Vee; 2021
The Vinyl Studio; 2021
H&R Block; 2022
Topps; 2022
Nike; 2022
Shoot-A-Way; 2022
Buick; 2023
Goldman Sachs; 2023
Iowa Cubs; 2023
Bose; 2023
State Farm; 2023
Gatorade; 2023
Panini America; 2024
Gainbridge; 2024
Xfinity; 2024

Cathy can shove her savior complex up her ass.

PAY OUR GIRLS!!!!

I mean, the ego dripping off of Cathy's comments as reported by Phee approaches Mr. McMahon level.

The argument has typically been that the W isn’t self-sustaining enough to share revenue to the degree that NBA and its franchises do. That made perfect sense ten or even five years ago, but it’s a much different deal now, when ownership/investment groups and cities all over the nation are willing to put up big money to gain a W franchise.

Whether the allocation of the NBA’s overarching TV rights revenues to the W is a fair percentage is a separate issue itself.

Yep, I’ve always regarded her as the W’s model citizen. If you piss her off you’ve ****** up.

Dave Portnoy made a great point a while back. We don't even know if The W is truly unable to sustain itself, because it's in the NBA's best financial interests to essentially write the WNBA off as a loss. We have no idea how much they're cooking the books. We don't know how much of the NBA's revenue is being generated by growing interest in the WNBA.
