WNBA 2025

It maybe counterintuitive but Lexi needs to take a shot. Make them play defense against the whole team.

Fought until the bitter end. Aces just made a few more plays in OT, really good shotmaking down the stretch from them.

Steph White deserves a ton of credit for taking on so many different players throughout the year and getting the absolute most out of them. I’d be willing to bet no one ran anywhere near as many unique lineups as Indiana had to this season.

In fairness the Aces are deserving, they were deadly with the three pointers throughout the entire game. It is amazing that Indiana was able to force them into overtime.

Engelbert out.

Even if the sources' statements are indeed "categorically false" this time, I think Cathy Engelbert's days as W commissioner are numbered.

There's been a steady chorus of players and coaches repeatedly putting the league on blast all season long. Now, one of the top players, who never goes there, ever, has directly put Cathy herself on blast, and folks around the league are coming out in droves in support of her comments. There's no coming back from this one IMO.

If Cathy stays as commish for the CBA negotiations, I fully expect a lockout next season. From what Lexie was saying yesterday in what I assume was a practice interview, they're not even close to a deal yet, and there are no signs that that's going to change anytime soon. The front office and the players are just so far apart.

I checked the Vegas/Indiana Game 5 score this morning. I wasn't surprised to see that Vegas won, but I smiled when I saw that Indiana took them to OT. Of course they did.

They could have tapped out a few months ago, but that's not what Coach White's teams do. It didn't matter who was on the floor. They fought to the bitter end and just missed out on making the Finals. Even as someone who isn't a diehard Indy fan like the rest of you, I appreciate the grit and hustle they showed this season.

I'll continue checking out the scores for the Finals. I have nothing whatsoever against Vegas, but I hope against hope that AT gets her first ring and that more players don't get seriously hurt.

Sophie's shenanigans...

And now we here from the other side. There are always 2 sides to a story of this magnitude:

WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert Praises Fever Amid Caitlin Clark Comment Denial

I don’t think Napheesa Collier would make that up.
Yeah, I don't either. Obviously, I wasn't in the room for the conversation, but like I alluded to earlier, that's not how Phee operates. She's the polar opposite of a rabble-rouser.

I watched the first 10 minutes or so of Cathy Engelbert's press conference. Aforementioned CC comment denial aside, I didn't hear her deny that she said the players should be on their knees thanking her for getting the media rights deal done. She just offered up a weak "there's a lot of inaccuracy out there, and emotions are high." That doesn't work for me, brother.

I'm glad to see Dana Evans thriving in Vegas after leaving Chicago. She scored 21 points off the bench last night in their Game 1 win over Phoenix. Looks like it was a good, close game.

Good article on Natasha Howard. With all the other popular players on the Fever, Howard got little publicity.

Caitlin Clark Sends Message After Indiana Fever Teammate's Emotional Post

Unsurprisingly, after Cathy Engelbert's press conference the other day, that meeting with Phee didn't happen. Phee obviously didn't like the fact that Cathy pretty much called her a liar and therefore cancelled the meeting. I don't blame her one bit for that.

Or, Collier didn't want to face Englebert one on one.

I believe Collier, she is one of the most respected players in the league. I STILL maintain that she should not be representing the players since she has a lot to gain financially from a lockout, being co-owner of Unrivaled.

You're certainly free to speculate. I'm going off of Phee's own words from the piece I posted:

"For her to start her speech saying she has the utmost respect for me and for the players, and then to turn around and call me a liar three minutes later ... denying words that I heard come straight out of her mouth. I think it just speaks to that lack of accountability and so I really have nothing further to say," Collier said. "I think she encapsulated what I was talking about in my statement."

Like I said earlier, I clearly wasn't there for the conversation. None of us were. That said, until Phee admits to making this whole thing up or evidence comes out clearly showing that she made it up, which would be completely out of character for her, I'm taking her at her word. She has been direct, specific, and forthright this whole time. Cathy has been vague and waffling.

I take your point regarding Unrivaled. To be fair, Stewie, the other Unrivaled co-owner, is also a VP of the WNBPA, like Phee. If the WNBA actually compensated its players fairly, there would be no need for Unrivaled to even exist.

FWIW, it looks like Indiana/Vegas was the real WNBA Finals. A game I'm confident Indiana would have won if Kelsey didn't go down.
Don't do that, man. The real Finals are happening now, no if's, and's, or but's. No excuses. Credit where credit is due.

Vegas picks and chooses when to show up, which is why it's tough for me to root for them, but when they show up, they usually win. They showed up when it counted in the clutch against Indy, and they've chosen to show up for these Finals. Last night's game was super close. One more three-pointer from Phoenix, and we're having an entirely different conversation. It is what it is.

Vegas sweeps Phoenix 4 games to 0. Yep, that is a zip.

If I recall correctly Vegas beat the Fever 3 games to 2 and the last game in the playoffs with the Fever it took overtime for Vegas to win.
