Cup RACE thread --- Talladega

Byron smashes into the back of Ty Dillon last weekend while running second and gets spun 100 yards from the finish line while running 4th this weekend. Thankfully I work next weekend, so I wont be able to see live what ruins a dominant race next weekend.

I don't remember you saying it 🤣 I remember who, it was when Chase Briscoe won to get into the playoffs it was said. They will be along shortly to congratulate and act like they always believed in him
I picked him to be in the Round of 4 from the very beginning. Given that this is all a lottery, I should head to Vegas now. Great win!

Happy for him. Surely since he's someone who's ran great all season, so for him its not even because of the system. He would have a chance even under a 36 race format. With the way points are scored right now he be 41 behind. 17 with the old Winston Cup points scoring.

Point proven. Great, great win.

Which explains why the 2nd place qualifier finishes first. Are you pissed off at the track now in addition to everything else?
I suspect the complaint isn't about who got in here, it's who the roulette wheel spat out. That's my issue with having this crap shoot as a playoff race (and with Daytona as the season ender). Another example of the original slap dash implementation of this system.

Byron was in a pretty much win or bust position for this race to start with. Typical playoff nonsense on a track more noted for luck than skill. .

Well, with the format you always post, Byron would be pretty much out of it. I got to also admit, my guy Chase Elliott would be dead in the water also.. him and William really collapsed at the wrong time sadly. This isn't a case of the system this time around.

Now with the current way of scoring points, non playoffs he still have a chance.

But it's the Winston Cup one you're always posting.

2 playoff weeks in a row Byron should have won with a championship spot on the line and had an idiot stop in middle of the track right in front of him near the end. How the hell does the happen 2 weeks in a row to him. :XXROFL: :XXROFL:

Byron moved up in front of a faster car and got turned.

He was in perfect position to make a move for the win and not have to worry about Hocevar when Larson stopped in front of him. He had been making all the right moves to get there until that happened. The momentum lost there put him in that position.

Larson didn't stop so much as run out of gas and start dropping speed rapidly. It's ****** timing, and has me wondering just how aware Larson was of that tank, but def not Byron's or even Hocevar's fault

Still has to be **** for Byron to lose one in such a similar fashion as last week again. And such a freak occurrence to even happen once with a car suddenly slowing like that in front of you, let alone for it happen to one driver two weeks in a row in the final round of the playoffs.

Even if it didn’t result in an accident this time and wasn’t for the same reason, it’s still a car slowing at an unsafe level right in front of him and costing him a race.
Byron winning a championship starting to feel like Sr winning the 500 level of luck.

Oh def, not trying to downplay how much this sucks for Byron, just was adding context because I didn't like the "Larson stopped." And it wasn't just ****** for him. Basically EVERY driver already below the cut line fell behind even further.

I really like Chase Briscoe as a person, how he conducts himself and with his love for family. He’s turned a bad situation (SHR) into a magnificent success story. He’s a great driver also. Congrats to him and his team. If Elliott can’t get in the championship I’ll be pulling for Briscoe to win it.
