Cup RACE thread --- Phoenix

Landon Cassill said on the Money Lap podcast that he talked to somebody on the 11 team, and that they had somebody down by the 5 team box to see what they were going to do on that last stop. Somehow the message never made it back to the 11 team what the 5 did with tires over their radio.

Watching it unfold last week I thought four tires was the right call.
With Heim's restart in mind, I wouldn't have done anything different. Four tires would've worked if so many others hadn't taken two.

That's what really surprised me. Those who were outside the Top 10 might as well have stayed out.
I think losing taking two would have been scrutinized much worse than losing taking four. Hindsight is so awesome. Gale needed to get creative to pull it off....he went with the percentages.

To me it didn't matter if it was two or four taken, what bit him in the a$$ was the GWC. I don't remember anybody **tching and moaning when Dale won Daytona in 1998 under a yellow. Could you imagine if they had that back then and Dale lost because of it.

As much as I hate the playoffs, if I could make only one change, it would be to eliminate GWC.

A gimmick revision. Nascar will continue the win and you are in gimmick but add yet another revision to the nonsense.
I don’t see what GWC has to do with the championship. I'd drop the GWC regardless of what championship format was used. I'd prefer to drop both GWC and any form of playoffs ( and a bunch if other things too) but if I was allowed only one overall change, GWC would go first.

It's not tweaking a gimmick, they're two separate things. NASCAR could announce a 36-race format next week and still keep the GWC.
