Michael Pickens cartwheels in turn 4. Out in heat 4. JJ Yeley makes the qualifier.

Gibbs goes from 9 to 2 and is high point man so far. Nascar's Boschelle in the KBM 51 car moves into 3 place in the points with the win.

These Cs and Ds are brutal. Guys like Crouch and Pickens being deep in the field Saturday is gonna make for some excitement.

Sheldon Creed hooked up makes the A. Beason from the D to the C to the B and makes it to the A. Kyle's 51 car makes the A.

Hahn was flying. Good racing in the second half of the race. Timms made it back to 11th after getting punted and Beason made it to 12th.

Both nights have been really good. Hard close racing, nobody has been running away with it.

Carson Hocevar is going to be a guest on the pre-race show tomorrow at 3:00 CST. I believe that will be on YouTube.

Jett Barnes was a pool pick of mine. He's gonna be a problem. Can't believe how year after year the Chili Bowl becomes the coming out party for so many up and comers.

Beason's run to the A was phenomenal. That race between Hahn and Davis...you know, this race has a real sort of specific heros. All three of those guys represent what I think makes the Chili Bowl great. Three Okies in three very different positions as drivers and all effectively legends here in this building. I love the Indy 500 and many other races but those races lack the narrative depth this has in the present day...the "lore" as the kids say. Not saying the Chili Bowl is a more historic event than the Indy 500; that is ludicrous and don't even think about painting me that way to get a cheap dunk. I'm saying that the Indy 500 has probably 34, maybe 35 entries for 33 spots. Daytona will have probably 44 for 41. F1 and sports cars you know the entries before the haulers show up. But this is 404 folks of all stripes competing for 25 (+1 for their provisional rule) starting spots. More people raced tonight than in the Daytona 500 and Indy 500 together, all with their own stories, ranging from the 1990 event winner to 14 year old kids. Guys like Beason who come here and only here each year are legends in the way Indy used to have legends in the 50s.

Everybody who makes it into the A Saturday night are going to be a problem I think lol. When Stewart, Larson and Bell all say winning the Chili bowl is bigger then winning the Daytona 500 they aren't just saying that, it's a fact.
I like what Emmet Hahn said. He said he was being inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and he was talking about a speech he has to give. He said. I'm going to be talking to a bunch of stick and ball folks. They don't know anything about racing but they do know about the rodeo. So to help them understand he thought up this comparison. He said Nascar is like calf roping..Midgets and Sprint cars are like bull riding lol.

Barnes isn't in the A, lol. But what I mean is he's gonna be a problem as a race car driver for anyone else for a long time in the future. Like 25-40 years worth of this.

This event is a weird mix for me. I still think it reminds me most of going to "fests" (hardcore punk or metal concert festivals of an underground/grassroots persuasion) crossed with a family function. I spend more time with Chili Bowl people than aunts or uncles.
