THE CLASH

I thought it was fine. I truly did. Kind of what I expected. WTF did all of these whiners think was going to happen? .....and if the drivers don't like it GTFO.

The drivers wanted to go green sooner. They wanted to push the tires to their limits.

Literally everyone was calling NASCAR out ON THE AIR. All the drivers and crew chiefs were saying "let's go." Mike Joy, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, and Larry McReynolds over on FOX all wanted to go.

NASCAR could have learned A LOT about the wet weather package and been able to improve on it if they had gone green when everyone except Race Control wanted to go.

And the racing might've been better. I mean, Bowman Gray is Redneck Monaco so you can only expect so much, as much as I love and cherish that place.

I’m going to say what a lot of people are thinking but are too scared to voice: Last night was a bad look for the sport.
📉

These teams spend tens of millions of dollars on engineering, wind tunnel time, and elite technology. Then we take the "top tier" of racing and put them in a stadium to crawl around at 70mph in the sleet and rain?
🤦‍♂️

It didn’t look like the best drivers in the world. It looked like guys who had no clue how to drive, sliding around in slow motion. When I was out there, the goal was to showcase speed and horsepower. Now, we’re starting the season with million-dollar bumper cars in a parking lot. It makes the "elite" level of our sport look amateur.
Is this really how we want to kick off a season? By throwing away all that engineering just for a "spectacle"?
I’m curious—do you want to see the best of the best actually racing, or do you just want to see million-dollar cars bumping into each other at highway speeds? Let me have it in the comments.

I don't like Mayfield either, but I'm not going to flip out if I occasionally agree with a few of his points.

NASCAR is my favorite brand of racing. I've spent more money going to their races than all others combined. But that doesn't mean I will always agree with them. Looking back on it, I don't even agree with some of my own past decisions or choices.

I get that the constant complaining gets old, but it is always going to be a factor whenever opinions are allowed.

I don’t assume it’s good for ones health to religiously watch something that bothers you so much. You’re supposed to rid of the negativity in your life, not bring it upon yourself.

There are at least a couple here that only post negativity in the race threads. I don’t get it. If you don’t like it, find something else to do on Sundays.

I wonder if a mod will ever figure it out that there are trolls? They need to be warned while in front of all of us who are trying to have fun watching the race instead of dealing with jerkoffs needing attention?

The level of complaining in this fanbase has gotten excessive. It's almost a barrier to any new person getting into the sport. If you go online to learn more, you're just met with a bunch of angry malcontents.
....and it would be important to listen to these people? That's what I don't get. Not at all.

Not me man....booked Vegas yesterday....that's four race trips this year! I can be a pain in the ass, but I love this sport! Never been to Vegas....super excited!

Eh, put on your hip waders if you do go on the social media, it gets deep quick. A couple places are Bob Pockrass and Jeff Gluck where a person wanting to know more about the sport would go. You will see that most of them that are commenting don't know much about the sport or how it works. You will see for yourself.
