2026 F1 Preseason

F1's early Mid East swing with back to back events in Bahrain and Saudi - with on-track activities in Bahrain scheduled to start Friday, April 10 - may be jeopardized by the regional conflict. F1 is monitoring the situation.

With the current middle east situation, all commercial flights in the region have been cancelled, leaving some F1 personnel unable to get out of Bahrain. Remember, Oz is only in four days away. This could be another mess.

Meanwhile, Aston has said the engine vibrates so much it's killing the battery. I can't imagine it does the rest of the car much good either. On top of that, they can't get it to fully charge. If you couple that with slow and blows up, it's not going to be long before we hear Fernando complaining about that "GP Two engine."

There's been talk they would simply start and park at Oz, simply because they are out of Honda spares.

When you add up at the key people Stroll has brought on, including Newey, and the Honda engine, they have the best of everything and everyone. I think we were all expecting Aston to be competitive right out of the box, and they probably did too. This failure is absolutely baffling.

According to this article Aston is planning a start-and-park at Melbourne. Wow, just wow.

The McHonda managed to finish the season opener in Melbourne in 2015 with Jenson’s car. Was it slow as hell and the only car two laps down? Yes. Did the second car fail to make it to the grid with an engine failure? Also yes. But they ultimately managed to finish the first race with one entry. That they are planning on starting and parking well in advance this weekend indicates that this is, remarkably, even more dire than McHonda. Astounding.
