Who brings more eyes to NASCAR? Cleetus or MJ?

It's been right at 1000 weeks since it was the Busch Series...William Byron wasn't even iRacing yet...times change, you might want to keep up

I don’t like to be a slave to corporate sponsors. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series is beyond parody levels bad as a series name.

If Natalie Decker's allowed to compete, Cleetus McFarland should be allowed to compete.

Mike Wallace, who was not allowed to compete in the Daytona 500 last year, is more qualified than both.

Decker shouldn’t be allowed in the O’Nationwifinity Series either.

So calling a series the correct name is being a slave to corporate sponsors? Ridiculous, go tell the clouds to get off your lawn

Go lick some more corporate boots.

Let me guess, it’s also the Willis Tower, Crypto.com Arena, and Daikin Park too right?

The evolving name of NASCAR’s secondary series is a bigger joke than Cleetus McFarland’s “racing” career.

As an aside, the Grand National Series being the only series without a real identity is unfortunate. You have to be a walking billboard to talk about it.

ARCA, Trucks, Cup

All distinct identities not tied to a sponsor.

The former Busch Grand National Series doesn’t have the same luck.

So many ASSumptions that are SO WRONG and obviously you weren't a fan prior to 1986...maybe go read a book

Let me guess, Naitch refers to the idiot Ric Flair?

Should've been the O'Reilly Auto Parts NASCAR Grand National Series.

I’m done with the sponsor roulette. To me, it’s either the Busch Series or Grand National Series. The bowing to corporations that we see in sports has to stop.

The wholesale tying of an entire series identity to a corporate sponsor and the ease with which fans go along with it makes me cringe and face palm.

LOL...Oh yeah, it will stop because of you for sure

Cry and whine all you want...I will enjoy the races

You're the one trying to be cool by calling it by the wrong name

I did no such thing. I called it by a name that doesn’t “respect” the absurdity of the corporate revolving door.

Do you work for O’Reilly Auto Parts? You seem unusually worked up about this.

You must have forgot when you posted:
As an aside, the Grand National Series being the only series

Personally I do support a lot of the sponsors of the sport but I retired years ago

My attitude toward sports stadiums.

My attitude toward sports stadiums.

It’s ridiculous. My favorite example is people talking about “going to Petco” for a baseball game or (formerly) “going to Minute Maid.” But hey, as long as people do this, those sponsorships have value.

Did anyone here call Charlotte “Lowe’s” during that weird time when they had naming rights or cal Fontana “Auto Club?”

Only major league sports stadium I ever go to is Camden Yards.

The only NFL Stadium I ever knew by name was Heinz Field. Which I just call Three Rivers now. The rest is a revolving door of sponsors.

I do remember people calling it "Auto Club" instead of Fontana.

Kinda messed up, but you can call it whatever wrong name you want I suppose. You might be able to call it "them there cars that go around in circles" to eliminate your use of having to use those horrible sponsor words.

The series was previously called the Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series in 1982 and 1983, the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series from 1984 through 2002, the NASCAR Busch Series from 2003 through 2007, the NASCAR Nationwide Series from 2008 through 2014, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series from 2015 to 2025

Hey, instead of bitching about what they call the second tier NASCAR series, can you use this energy to go against capitalism in a way that will actually help us poor people

I call it xfinty a lot of the time, but thats just because of habit. I just think bitching about something like this is stupid. people know what you refereeing too, no matter if its the busch, Nationwide, Xfinty, or O’Reilly. Theirs legit no point about fighting about this.

I’ve dedicated my career to fighting for policies that help poor people.

You might want to direct your anger at someone else.

youre acting like this name bs is actually important, and i just find that stupid

It's a symptom of a broader problem, the erosion of tradition in name of the almighty dollar. I would be a hypocrite if I just advised candidates and campaigns that want to fight corporate power while at the same time being led around by the corporate dog collar.

Notice how I just called it the Busch Series and it wasn't a big deal until one guy decided to attack me over it. I explained myself accordingly.

Hey I'm not fighting anything. Just pointing out it's impossible to call the series anything that doesn't have a sponsor's name on it.

Like the winston, nextel, Sprint, Monster, Cup series?

I just call it the Cup Series these days. Again, it goes back to the problem of the secondary series not having a distinct identity.

You can refer to the Cup, Trucks, and ARCA without saying a sponsor. You can’t do that with the O’Buschfinitywide Series.

Sportsman. That was the name before it got a sponsor. if u dont want to say a name of a company, call it the sportsman division

It'll always be the "bush race" and the "truck race". :punkrocke :moon:
