Denny Hamlin Appreciation Thread

Tyler is good enough. Denny is the better, more complete driver.
I guess the argument can be made both ways.

Denny is generally more consistent throughout the season, but Denny falls way short of being able to run up front at road/street courses.

Doesn't matter much this year because there isnt one in the chase.

The best regular season driver of the playoff era. Sums him up nicely.
For whatever reason it seems like Denny, or his team, always seem to find a way to lose it in the playoffs. Its hard to go against him this year given his performance and the format. But let's not forget he once went into the final race with the points lead in this format and still lost.

How could I forget. :p

And to @aunty dive point, I believe the comparison was with JGR teammates, but I will play.....Laps led is a critical metric in performance. Denny leads in laps led. With that being said, I would agree with you. One aspect of the argument lives in whether or not Denny is closer to the front on road courses vs. Tyler on short tracks. Probably not, but Denny is better on the 1.5s in my opinion.

From a lot of perspectives, the Denny chokes in the clutch thing is gone after last year. While I do not have a problem with the old format, that bit him....and that format now gone. I think that Denny proved that he can adapt better than literally anyone in the series right now. With regard to the championship lost vs. Jimmie way back when.....he was a completely different driver/competitor then. As a Toyota fan, if I am given a choice between Denny or Tyler chasing somebody down for a late pass to win the championship....I am taking DFH every ****** time.

I believe 100% that if Denny had to mitigate points loss and be good on a road course, he could. Next year should be interesting. Let us not forget that Denny is a road course winner.

Denny haters will find a myriad of excuses to minimize his successes and magnify his shortcomings. While perhaps not as adept at road courses as some, he is a proven winner at all venues. His devotion to the sport is undeniable as is his candor on situations he views as unsafe or areas needing improvement.
For a guy his age to remain more than competitive in one of the most demanding forms of motor racing is a testament to his ability and dedication.

Man I don't know. Even Denny addressed some weird stat that he's lost more races in green-white-checkers than he's won.

If its a long green flag and he needs to maintain a lead or run someone down I'll take Denny. But if it's a shoot out to the finish, that typically not his strong suit.

Just checking, but has Denny getting NASCAR to settle with 23XI and FRM ruined NASCAR yet or is that still to come? Just checking since I see this bumped to the top.

Speaking of just checking. What if anything has changed? Billionaires swapping dollars amongst themselves?

See how the ownership of charters progresses. Right now RFK is searching and rumors are the asking price isnt worth it and they might run an open team next season.

If its too rich for RFK then how are people besides billionaires supposed to enter the sport? Notice how the oreilly series keeps setting records for viewership?

Isn't John Henry a Billionaire? AND his co-owner LeBron?

If it's too rich for TWO Billionaires combined...

Lately, the O'Reilly Series has been producing better racing.
I seriously doubt attendance or viewership in either series is because charters in Cup are costly. Look at F1 and how much it costs to run a team there and use the same analogy.
