The season is over at Bowman Gray Stadium and Burt Myers is the new champ, getting his 4th title. The 150 lapper was very exciting. Tim Brown won the pole and was in the top 5 until the last lap. Second place runner and second in the points Brian Loftin, spun Tim out for the win. Tim finished 10th or so, just behind Burt, who was points racing for the first time that I've seen. There were plenty of cautions and drivers at the front getting spun. Loftin was the only one of the front runners that didn't get spun. Myers qualified mid pack and that's where he raced, keeping a good space between him and the driver in front of him. Junior Miller spun himself out. James Civali had a rough night, giving and getting. The Show Stopper was mid pack and didn't stop the show. Jason Myers was top five for most of the race and had a great finish. Jon Boy Brown was a front runner, but Tim Brown punted him and he finished in the back. It was a nail biter til the end. The other races were just as exciting as well. Sad to see the season end. It's a long time to late April. :(

Buckaroo did you come to Bristol to watch the Mods on Wednesday Night?

We originally had planned on going back there this year, but the wife couldn't get off so we had to pass. Did get to watch it on TV though. I had the time off but the wife couldn't get it.

Hey Buck your season ends early is it because of football at Bowman Grey?
BTW: Thompson officials banned three drivers that were involved with that incident last week. Heading there tonight for MRS Mods, plus the weekly show. Modified Racing Series, used to be the old True Value tour, heard they have a good car count and better races than the Whelen guys. I'll let you know if it is any good.

Yep, BGS is where Winston Salem State University plays their home games. The university has been wanting to buy the stadium from the city for years, but have never come to a deal they would accept. Some time ago, the city offered to sell the stadium for a dollar, but the city would keep the concessions and parking. WSSU said no and that is where it's ended. Two years ago, the city built the new club house with beautiful locker rooms and offices plus a big new score board. It would be silly for the city to sell the stadium. The university has five to six games a year there where the average attendance is barely over 5,000 whereas NASCAR has 18 or so scheduled Saturday night races plus one Friday night race which averages well over 18,000 each night (average this year is up closer to 20,000 thanks to TV). There is a charge for parking for WSSU football games but for racing, parking is free. And there has been racing there since 1949. I don't have any idea when the WSSU Rams began to play football.

So I went to the MRS series last thurs. at Thompson......good stuff, lots of side by side racing, better than the Whelen tour races i saw at Thompson and Stafford. Car count was high too 36 cars entered but 3 blew engines in practice so they started 32 after all the heats, one crashed couldn't make it back for feature. Heading to Waterford Speedbowl tomorrow afternoon for MRS plus weekly racing, should be good night of racing.:)

Some good racing down at Waterford, Ted christopher got a taste of his own medicine last night. Got booted in turn 3 and never was a factor after that. I'm liking this Modified Racing Series more and more. here is the link if you guys want to check it out.
