One race deal for the second Daytona race. What an ugly car.

Definetly looks better from the front.

Make no mistake, Bill Elliot is done. He just doesn't know it. ;)

It looks like he may be setting the table for Chase.

I have often been surprised that WalMart has not gotten into the sponsorship business sooner since its largest competitor Target has been in for awhile.

The prevailng opinion seems to be that anyone can win a plate race so why not give it a try.

maybe there's a walmart cup in nascar's future if/when sprint decides to terminate it's sponsorship.

The next generation of Elliots will be showing up in a cup car very soon. Bill has stated Chase has more talent than Bill ever had. I see another fan favorite soon. :beerbang:

I read some time ago that if Walmart was a country they would be the 27th largest economy in the world. The article also pointed out that they are four times larger than Target. I would think they could afford a to sponsor a complete car!

Elliot was my 1st favorite driver and I know that his son has some talent but it's certainly not out of the ordinary for parents to oversate their kids talents and abilities.

I guess I'm taking the wait and see approach and thinking I may have someone to cheer for when Kenseth retires.

I have watched Chase race and he is someone to watch. The Winchester 400 is a big race and he has done quite well there.

Deddy Elliott is still rolling in his grave. How far can Million Dollar Bill go from where the acorn fell? I've got a tear in my eye once again. Bill will forever be my number 1 favorite.

He won the most popular driver award more than JR has.

Can you imagine: Chase making the race, needing to win a race to make the chace? Who in the universe will untie the knot in Larry Macs tongue? No one? ;)

Chase's race for the chase begins with the chase of this race for Chase?

Chase also has a lot of money and his dad's last name.

With the kind of money he's got behind him and the cars he's racing in, I could name about 50 late model drivers in three states alone who could win in his cars every single time.

Chase is running K&N now and he's not exactly lighting the world on fire over there where he's still at a financial advantage.

I suppose it's always been part of the business from Petty on down to how great of a driver a fetus may be

For the most part, you're name can get you in and keep you in but it's performance which dictates what your mark on Nascar will be.

For me it's about race wins...not the number of most popular driver wins

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. never won anything before getting to Nationwide.

And Super Late Model success doesn't mean someone will do good in NASCAR. Chase Elliott won some PASS South races, some USAR Pro Cup races and the Snowball Derby and now everyone says he's the next Jimmie Johnson. Steven Wallace also had great success in the super late model ranks.

If you have money, you'll get in to NASCAR. Look at John Wes Townley.

I cannot remember a time when family connections didn't play a big part in guys getting a ride in Nascar .Would Senior have gotten a ride if Ralph wasn't so well known ? Buddy Baker ? Dale Jarrett ? Richard Petty ?What's the problem ?

I don't have a problem with it. I'm merely pointing out that Chase Elliott is way overrated. I keep hearing how he's the second coming of Jimmie Johnson when he hasn't proven himself yet.

When it comes to the Snowball Derby, and it's a well known fact, he who has the most money wins that race. Even Steven Wallace has won that. And running a Hendrick car in USAR is like running an Daytona Prototype in a SCCA race. He hasn't done anything spectacular in K&N -- a third place finish and a fifth place finish at a track where he had four times more track time in his car than anyone else.

I refuse to jump on the "Chase Elliott is the greatest ever" bandwagon.

PR hype is a fact of life in Nascar . Nothing is done without a press conference and a lot of media hoopla. Everything .,including a 'one race deal' is blown out of proportion . It's part of the sponsorship dilema and giving the sponsor more bang for his buck. It is important to make the driver appear to be the greatest thing since sliced bread (no offence to #20) and play up his family connection . You can teach the guy to drive a racecar but without a sponsor he can't get to the track.
