Bleacher report's video break down of Biffle's failure to race.

Is he just supposed to let Jr beat him? Would this be a discussion if it were anyone but Jr?

Who is "him". Biffle? kenseth? Jack?
WHO?

This is the discussion: last sentance of the article, I love it.....

Biffle was simply being a good teammate here. But he robbed race fans in the process. This race would have been a whole lot more exciting had Biffle done everything in his power to claim the victory. That is exactly what NASCAR needs to be about.

I don't care about Jr not winning. I'm talking about Biffle not RACING, which is why I watch. Jr tries to make a move high, which is where Biffle should have been in the first place. Biffle moves up to block Jr, then jumps back behing Matt. If Biffle goes with Jr, he could have jumped back down in front of Matt and won the race, but his main concern seemed to be protecting Matt. Protecting Matt is the only thing that explains his moves and non-moves in the last 2 laps.

I'm definitely a JR. fan and I've already said in the Daytona 500 thread that I believe Biffle was doing nothing more than protecting Kenseth. If Biffle had any intention on winning that race the other night I think his only choice was to use Earnhardt's help. Sure I would like to have seen Jr. win that race but that isn't influencing my thoughts on this at all. I don't think Jr. had a chance in heck to win that race without help. He had none. Biffle did have help in Earnhardt but he didn't even attempt to pass Kenseth. It's nothing more than being the ultimate teammate. I certainly praise Biffle for that but I sure find fault in him at the same time for not wanting to win.

As an example put my driver in second place following his teammate Jeff Gordon with Biffle running in third. Had Earnhardt not run for the win in that situation I'd be mad as heck.

Has anyone even cosidered that Biffle pushing Junior to the front might have caused Junior to win?

Did you watch the race? Cause I didn't see biffle pushing jr at all.

Did he have a chance to where I just didn't see it?!!!
I meant to say Biffle and Junior making a move to the front could easily have handed the win to Junior.Don't have a coronary:D

Or Maybe Biffle could have won! Guess we will never know, because Biffle is a team player.

The economy messed up again. ;) I think he meant going with Jr, then Jr having the advantage going to the line. Ted, I explained his options above. Biffle wasn't interested in risking the Roush win to win the 500 himself. IT's the freaking Daytona 500 Greg!

I need to type faster.

The only person who knows for sure what the situation was is Greg Biffle. All night long the 16 had no problem getting up to the bumper of the 17 but couldn't do it with the 88 pushing him? Seems sketchy at best. But hey, that's racing. People do what they think is best for themselves and/or their team.

Biffle was in a tough position here. If he stays behind Kenseth he's a good teammate but gives up a shot at the Daytona 500. If he goes for he can cause Roush racing the win. It was a loose loose for him.

Yeah but I would rather be known as somebody who would race for the win rather than Jack's bitch.o_O

The article was a nice point of view from an individual that sits behind a typewriter and not the steering wheel of a racecar. From the perspective of his comfy cubicle, he writes this sh!t to keep his family fed. Albeit, the driver that finished third has a completely different opinion of what happened on the last lap of the 2012 Daytona 500. However the driver of the 88 car doesn't have to write fiction to get a paycheck. The writer of this crap, himself, admits that this is pure speculation but the Chevy crybabies can't let go of the fact that no Blowties could catch Matt Kenseth's hot rod Ford.
Here's another thing to think about: That hot rod Ford that won the Daytona 500 passed BOTH pre-race and post-race tech inspection, while the 48 Chevrolet sits negative in the point standings (pending appeal) for cheating (once again).
"Yes. It ran every restrictor-plate race we raced last year and went to the R&D Center. So, it's only been painted since then. It's been seen an awful lot (by NASCAR). So I need to get down to why it was wrong this time and (why) it's OK the other times." -Rick Hendrick.
Rick better hope that NASCAR doesn't fine his cheating ass, retrospectively, for the addmitted, continual infractions with the same racecar.

"If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, wouldn't it be a Merry Christmas?"

Matt won! Done deal.

What happens if Biffle lays back gets the push from JR and when he goes to pass matt they both crash and JR wins the race? Would you really wanna explain to your owner that you took both his cars out and gave the race away?

Where's that guy from Cali????He knows the truth.I'm stick to my Jack wanted the 17 to win and nobody else story.Cause he can't get enough sponsors for it if he didn't win the 500.

I agree, team orders. Biffle had several opportunities to pass Kenseth but he didn't.

I'm willing to bet that if Biffle had tried to win the race and Jr ended up wining it, people would bash him for being a bad teammate.

I just wanted to see a race to the flag. It's hard to understand how that didn't happen at the Daytona 500. It was my last chance to see some real racing during this 4 day weekend.

like I said;I see paybacks comeing

yes defending your teamate ok,but biff lied......................

Biffle NEVER tried to get in front of the 17 on any restart so why should we expect him to try on the last lap.

Oh most definitely. According to many on this board its a rare occurrence that any driver does anything right.

It's a shame if Biff could've won and was ordered not to, but I can see that being the case. I was surprised nobody made a move. Thought there was several possibilities, 1 of them being JR dropping back to Hamlin on the restart cause the 11 was a good pusher Monday. The other realizing he had 2 Roush cars ahead of him is JR being a little more aggressive on Biffle's bumper. It's all for nothing now though. I hope for Racing's sake though Biffle did try and do everything he could though, there's no bigger prize so if he ain't gonna go after it he shouldn't be there. Atleast Matt got his 500 mile victory this time:)

YES. If Edwards were In front of Junior, I ger-run-tee he would of took the bumper from Junior and tried to pass Matt to win the race. Busch would have passed Hamlin, and Stewart would have passed Newman. It's the Dayfreakintona 500, a legendary race with a HUGE payout!!! Grow a pair and roll the dice and go for the Checkers or Wreckers to win Daytona 500. Teamates are for laps 1-499.

Not I. 2nd and 3rd (or just the top 10!) is a respectable finish for two cars in the same race team at any track. :p

Yeah, I'm afraid Biffle would've been black flagged had he passed Kenseth on lap 500 of this one.

I gotta be the silliest old fool on the line, but I cannot for the life of me remember a plate race where someone was not pushed accross the line by someone else (usually a teammate). Yes , there were a race or maybe two where the two cars split up as they were about to cross the line and the pusher maybe got the win. But that only happened when the other cars were far enough back. If they are any other two cars ,is this finish an issue?

I read on another forum, that the Biff was on the gas the whole time, and NASCAR is thinking of releasing the data. Time will tell.
