The National Weather Service warning of "catastrophic" tornadoes moving through Kansas.

The last time the NWS used the word "catastrophic" in a warning, August 28-29, 2005.

They're working. How do you have 12 something tornadoes hit a place like DFW and nobody gets killed?
 
I remember back in the 50's living in Oklahoma. There were times when the sirens would sound at all times of the night and because out house didn't have a stormceller so we were either running across the street to one, or jumping the fence to another one. While us kids were made to huddle down inside the celler, the adults would stand at the top of the stairs and watch the skys. Since that time, I've always been on the lookout for tornados. Later on while visiting family out in Denver, I saw my first tornado but it was way off and did very little damage. Now that I'm living here in North Carolina, I've had an F0 on the Jujita scale that went right over my head while I was holding on for dear life on the front porch of one of my patrons Believe me, I was scared what with the roaring wind and changing directions.
