Gotta love the 600. I don't know how much I'd enjoy sitting in 90+ degree heat for 5 hours to watch this race live but I love watching it on the TV.

I'm ready for a heapin helpin of them phantom debris . Then we'll all have sometin to 'bring up ' on Monday. Yee haaa.:D

Hey, it beats going to see the wifes family. ;)

Very true. She and Aiden are going up north for the weekend. I am staying home to finish up my spring term and watch a bunch of racing. This Sunday is my favorite day of the year. Monaco, Indy and the 600! Hell yeah!

This race is so long. I know every year when I'm watching I'll look at the lap counter and be shocked it's only half way.

For this race I drink lots of beer with a bunch of friends and watch the race on a projected screen on the side of our camp on a 10'+ screen. We normally draw car numbers out of a hat for $5 a pick and everyone has a vested interest in the race. It makes for a good time and someone makes themselves a couple hundred bucks.

Man, that would be awesome. I have so few friends that are even remotely interested in racing that I could never pull off something like that.

My kind of race observance extraordinaire. I always look forward to this race.

Great track, great race. I can't wait. Hopefully my guys fare better than they did in the All-Star. I predict quite a few blown motors.

I'm betting that we don't see Johnson hanging out at the rear of this field like @ the All-Star race.

Left that one wide open for you Fender!

Doesn't seem very fast so far this weekend Hope they find some speed Saturday. It's gonna be tough to pass and they have struggled this year on mile and halfs.

They were fast at Texas, Kansas and California. Typically they are slow during the daytime practices and fast at night. They can use pit strategy to get track position.

It sounds like you and your friends are going to have an awesome time.:)

Three 1.5 mile races this year, he's led a total of 4 laps. Las Vegas, started 12th finished 16. Texas, started 4th finished 34th. Kansas, started 21st finished 20th. He did have good speed at California, but it's not a 1.5 mile.

Are you sure about your Texas numbers? I think you have it backwards. They had engine trouble at Kansas. Vegas car was better than they finished. 2 mile track speed is absolutely relevant to 1.5 mile track speed. Both require the same things.

I did have it backwards. I feel better already!

We usually do. Half of us are avid race fans. The rest, not so much. Still, a five dollar investment has everyone watching the race @ the end to see who wins the money. Winning in the past has turned a few of the 'not so much' crowd into fans of the sport.

Dang, I'm sitting here doing nothing. I can't wait for the race to start. Open wheel sucks and it's the only thing on TV right now. The glamour has left the Indy 500. They slit their own neck with the CART/IRL crap and it will never be the same. Hell, I never even heard of half of the Indy 500 field-fillers.
I can't wait for the real racing to start.

It's good that we have choices.
Sadly, I think the Indy 500 will prove to be more exciting than the 600. Aero push has ruined the racing at Charlotte.:(

Crap. I hope not. I hope it isn't long green flag runs and a fuel deal in the end. I'd rather see side-by-side beating and banging, lead swaps, etc.
