The Top 10 heading into Fontana are.....

A shakeup at the top after Bristol. Old Timer Racing is going onto Fontana with a 31 point lead. Think it'll hold up? I have my doubts.

Deadline to select your drivers is Mar 22 5:00am EDT
 
The good news, the "Coming From Behind" team came in first points at Bristol 364..the bad news, most everybody did well also, so the coming from behind team is still in the cellar up 5 places to 37th. We are farther out of start and park territory though, and me and the boys picked up another sponsor so we can make it to California. We will have "Taco Warehouse, Eat More Taco's" on the side of the car this week.

I'm trying hard for last place, it seems. I never have a good insight as to what drivers will do well on a particular track. And its nearly impossible for me to pick some drivers like Jimmy Johnson, just on principle.

There is a section on the Fantasy Page that provides insight into what drivers do well at certain tracks. There is some good info there! Check it out!

As for not picking JJ "just on principle", don't be a fool! lol He's a favorite at almost any track.
Nobody will accuse you of being a Johnson Lover if you do!

As for Fontucky, I remember noting last year that the Childress/ECR cars seemed to have a very throaty tone - especially upon acceleration when exiting Turn One. Harvick finished fourth but the race was called early due to rain and Tony Stewart was out front when the race was called.

It's really not that scientific IMO ,Nichodemus ..we all know that any one of the top 15 drivers can win on any given week . Every one of us is limited to only one pick of the A list drivers , so it's really a 1 out of 9 crapshoot. Just luck. As for the C list , there are only 2 or 3 drivers that even have a top 15 shot . The only real difficulty is with the B list , so many good drivers to pick from, and you can only use 2 . Again , with engine failures , pit road penalties and accidents , luck plays a big part . Last week Matt Kenseth was a great pick till he ran into Jeff.
 
Yeah the middle bunch is the meat of the picks. Like Ted was saying, the "A" list you get to pick two, 1 runs the race, and the second you try to guess who on that list will qualify well, because that is all that position is pretty much good for. Same thing on down the line. Your pick on the left side is for position, and the right column is your best qualifier guess. If it is a toss up between two drivers, like they are pretty even stat wise, I always go with the one I like the best.:) Tips Like Robby has are insider information, best hunches..Like last week I picked both Bush's on an hunch that I thought Kurt was due for a good finish, Furniture Row car has stepped up their game, just a educated guess, could have gone either way.

Part of it is how much time you put in doing research. There are sites that have statistics and driver averages etc, and information you pick up watching the races, some teams get on a roll. Some just don't have the time to do all that. Then the cool part is no matter how much research you do, things happen during the race.
 
It doesn't matter how much time you look things up or how good you think your picks are..... LUCK is the answer. You either have it or you don't. Simple as that. ;)
 
We had a contest at work that was pretty fun. You put 5 bucks in and picked three to win. First was 5 points, 2nd was 3, and third was 2 points. Ties split the pot. Lots of times one guy would get the winner 5 points and another would get 2nd and 3rd, so they would tie. Lot easier then this game here.
 
History is so misleading . Bowyer , Keselowski ,Logano ,Kahne , Kurt Busch , have all changed teams in the last couple years and are doing better then they have in the past. I think the big thing is not to lose track of who is running well . Every time I look at the current point standings I see someone that I didn't see before.
 
Yeah look at Kenseth, he was running for the lead and could have won Bristol, or up at the top, for two in a row last week, so he is a wild card in the A list IMO.

It is hard to tell, but Kurt? Brad did far better in his first (partial) year with HMS/phoenix than he had in his first year with Penske. The Paul / Brad combination was a big key, along with getting Roger to be more focused on nascar. Bowyer sure found a better combination for his style, and Logano just might have his. Kahne is fortunate to have had his CC thru all those teams he's been with.

I agree , but I have to look at other stats cause I tend to go with Bill Elliott and Terry Labonte when I go with my gut.:D

Man, it doesn't matter how much research I do this year. I'm doing the same things I've done in the past in other leagues, and those usually get me at least in the top 25%. This year I can't get out of the bottom 25% in any of them.
My roster is filled for Cali. If you wanna know who's gonna DNF, just take a look at it. :(

You can still get value from KY, and yet you think you've been screwed? Call me when you have to use Poly-Grip. o_O
 
what did ya get out of qualifying Charlie? is it KY or polygrip, or steak and tails? I came out with a big mac meal, but I did get to supersize it.
