I didn't see the Nationwide race, so I can't comment on anything that went on there. But I have two candidates from Pocono. The first is Kevin Harvick for speeding on pit road. He's been on his crew for weeks for making mistakes. This time, he made the mistake. The second is Danica Patrick for continuing to race hard on a tire that was going down (she knew it) and ended up putting it into the wall.

Danica's crew chef told her to race hard back to the pits so he's the bonehead not Danica.

i say Gordon, when everybody pitted and he stayed out. it cost him, and it won it for Jr.

JG didn't make that decision. His crew chief did. I was listening to his in-car.

To Harvick's credit, he owned up to that and getting involved in the big crash and said his team gave him a good enough car to win yesterday.

My bonehead of the week goes to whoever left the Supercross/Motocross rhythm section along the apron. Carl Edwards looked like Bo and Luke Duke dodging the big one, and it's really the reason Harvick crashed.

i should have said the 24 team really, but i figured Jeff should have overruled the decision to not pit, he's been racing long enough to know how things play out.

And he's also been racing long enough to question his CC but like any top driver he never tries to overrule his CC's decisions. The CC and engineer's have information at hand that the driver's don't have. It's called trust, respect and confidence. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it don't.

good point, he does seem like a respectful guy, but as the driver i gotta believe he has that option to make that choice. but like i said, i should have said the 24 team, not just Jeff. it was a mistake either way in my opinion.

Did anyone actually make a huge bonehead mistake this week?

I think Kurt and Jeff should have come in when Jr did (towards the end of the race), to get 4 tires and gas. I guess that would be my bonehead mistake, the CC's keeping them out.

YEP.

Not a word about Hambone taking out what, 13 cars? His wreck turned Pocono into a restrictor plate track for a while. Danica's deal was just a back marker doing what they do.

She had a rear tire going down. 6 time had tire issues too.

Ah, the benefit of hindsight. Monday's will do that for you.

Whatever Jeff would have done would have probably been wrong.

Is that what happened to the dude drinking whatever was in the glass bottle in your last Avi????

Aric Almirola for thinking someone pushed him into the pile. Not a car behind him as he drove it in.

I know this is a NASCAR thread, but if we're struggling to find a bonehead for Pocono, maybe we should just give it to Josef Newgarden's pit crew and call it good.
