Will Jeff Gordon retire?

I highly doubt that Rick will force him out of the 24 for Chase, especially considering Jeff put Hendrick on the map. Jeff is probably the greatest driver of all time when you get right down to it. Most wins by far in the modern era, highest winning % of any driver in modern era, 20+ year career, multiple crew chiefs, cars etc.. coming from someone who hated him for most of my life, you got to realize that he is simply great. I find it hard to believe that Chase will be better than him, even at Jeff's current preformance. Plus, many forget he's only in his mid 40s, heck Dale Earnhardt fought for championship into his late 40s... I would be very surprised if he quits in the next 2-3 years.

That being said, I think that the quicker they get Elliot in cup the better, so who knows... Not sure how long Kahnes contract is for, and JJ or Jr will never be forced out or leave. It wouldn't surprise me if Kaseys the next one to go or not but, I don't see Jeff retiring any time soon.

I don't think he'll retire for another few years. I think he's shooting for 100 before he hangs it up.

Unfortunately for Jeff , the longer he stays , the harder it is to get out . Sponsors , owners , crews , fans , the media ...they all love winners like Jeff . Add to that , he likely employs fifty people in his foundation , his licensing , etc ., etc. . And , after such a great year , he probably thinks he can win another championship.

Why in the world would a guy who just missed the final 4 and had one of the better years of anyone retire? Kasey will be the one fired from HMS to make room for Chase.

After the season he has had, he'd be crazy to hang it up. This reminds me of the 96-97 Denver Broncos. They were arguably the best team in the AFC that year, and lost in the play offs to the 8-8 Jaguars. Questions came up about if John Elway would retire or not. He didn't, because he knew they team he had under him and knew he had a shot are a championship for a few more years. What did he do? He won the next two championships. If anything I expect Gordon to come back next year more hungry than before.

I wonder how many of us would retire from a multi million dollar contract with the year he had. I can tell ya what I would do. They would have to pry my cold dead fingers off the wheel.

Hopefully, I don't need my drivers kicking each other out of rides.

I think gordon retires either 2015 or 16. And people act like Kahne can't improve next season, what if he wins 3-4 races and jr struggles with a new crew chief? That would make old Ricky boys decision quite harder, seeing as Kahne is just entering his 30s and jr, Jeffy, and Jimmie are all getting up there in age. If Rick plays his cards right, he could have a future driver lineup of Kasey Kahne, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, and any of Chris buescher, ryan Blaney, or bubba Wallace

If anybody listens to Jeff they would know his only plans to retire involve being forced by health issues or being uncompetitive. Period.

National Enquirer ....... talk about grasping at straws

.. Kasey will be the one fired from HMS to make room for Chase.

Don't know why folks keep saying that . Rick isn't about to give up on Kasey . That's not who Rick is . More likely , there may be some sort of crew chief shuffle .

In an interview on the Cup pre-show, he said that he had no plans of retirement.

As for Kahne, Kyle Busch thought that he was going to be at HMS for a while...

So, when he does retire. It's only a matter of time. What network does he go to? I'm guessing FOX, as a replacement for Ol' DW. Correction..... I'm hoping FOX, as a replacement for Ol' DW.

Morning TV talk show host. General interest stuff, only incidental racing talk, and non political.

In short.

No, not until he wants to stop. I'm pretty sure Rick will push for the best for Jeff. As scary as it sounds the hunger and potential is always there.

Times has got to be tough for the National Enquirer. The Internet stole a lot of their thunder, with what kind of suggestive inflammatory non sense can we publish.

I imagine the N.E. weekly writers conference starting with "ok folks who has the kookiest headline this week. One to make their jaws drop while standing in the grocery store line".
Just remember to keep it suggestive only to keep Saul Goodman happy. The old friend of a freind untraceable sources are gold.

he has been grooming for that after racing for years. Lives in New York city.

I will say with the ego he has (Gordon lovers will probably call it ambition), he wants to be a big man in NYC. I don't think Gordon will be out of the lime light much after racing. No place in the country with an old western town and a dirt track for Jeffy. I watched him host Regis years ago and he did a really good job of it.

I saw him host SNL as well as Regis. Somehow I don't think he'll go into comedy either. I think he'll continue to make his home in NASCAR.

The last time I was in line they had pictures of Bruce Jenner in drag..he looked better as a woman I thought.

I don't know why people are so hell bent that Jeff needs to retire or if he's going to retire. Dale Sr was going on 50 years old before his unfortunate death... Jeff can stay around as long as he wants and I think Rick will allow it.

I guess people forget that out of drivers on front running teams, Greg Biffle is 44 going on 45 and he just resigned with Roush.

I like the idea of Kyle Larson replacing Jeff, whenever he retires.

I don't like Gordon but he is still one of the better drivers in NASCAR. I would be surprised if he was out of NASCAR in 2020. Retire or forced out.

Is Chase already in Hendrick for Sprint Cup? Or would he be free to sign on to any team interested?
