Will Jeff Gordon retire?

I think Jeff has a lot of racing left in him. He walked by me after he lost the pole in Fontana to Kenseth. Looked like he was going to beat the hell out of whoever got in his way. I was impressed. Showed me something right there. Taking nothing away from Champion Harvick, I thought that Jeff Gordon was the driver of the year. Fast as hell, races smart, and a class act.

from jayski.....

Q) Can you update us about your back spasms?

Gordon: "It's not worth talking about. Nothing has changed since last year. It's an ongoing process for me to maintain it. It's not something I'm just going to fix. It's not something I can do and all of a sudden my back will be healed. Other than what happened at Charlotte, it didn't hinder me or my performance throughout the whole 2014 season.

Like me, it sounds like he goes to a chiropractor to keep the pain at bay. IMO, he'll continue racing until he stops being competitive. . . . .meaning, he's always racing in the back of the pack bringing up the rear. B)

I dunno, I think he'll take the Mark Martin route.

I like Martin but he didn't retire on a good note.

Gordon has said millions of times that he won't be one of those back markers. He'll call it a career when he cant keep up with the front pack. If the back doesn't get him first, he'll retire on his own terms..on top. Per se.

20+ years of consistency. That's tough to maintain and he has. Crazy.

If you go back to 10 years in the sport and compare those drivers to now, you'll see that 95% of them are all gone but yet old Gordy remains..and competitive.

I'm going to hate seeing the old man retire but it'll happen sadly. One way or the other.

Makes you wonder after a 13 year championship drought and Chase Elliott waiting for his shot will Jeff hang up the helmet? Gotta consider the source but I wouldn't be surprised if Ingrid is in Jeff's ear about retirement

I'm going out on a limb and say yes.

So much for guessing. Whatever he does, I'm behind him 100%. I'm still a NASCAR fan, and have my favorites already waiting in the wings. If he wants to race part time like MM/Labonte/Bill Elliot I'm perfectly fine with that. On NASCAR America, they interviewed some of the drivers and there are a lot of sprint car drivers that grew up as avid Jeff Gordon fans and followed in his footsteps. As in Joey Logano, AJ, Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, etc.

That answers the big question, now will he do a MM/Labonte/Bill Elliot retirement or go into management exclusively??

I suspect he'll be completely gone once he hangs em' up.. then will resurface in 10 years to support his kids as they are climbing the ranks

If anybody listens to Jeff they would know his only plans to retire involve being forced by health issues or being uncompetitive. Period.

We know JG was competive last year guess this means h

guess you don't listen to Jeff.. period

Nothing wrong with him wanting to spend time with his wife and kids, perhaps next time you wont say it's a cry for attention if someone posts something you don't like. Funny how his back injury only coincides with off seasons.. didn't hear a word about it all last year when he was running great.

He actually had to get out of the car because of his back during the race season.

LOL, Really? As you can see from the above videos, you are dead wrong...just admit it and move on

when I posted about the possibility of Jeff retiring you jumped on my zhit like I it wasn't even a possiblity
I didnt say it wasnt a possibility. I said it would either come if he is no longer competitive or his health issues pushed him out. Which is exactly what happened.

And when I said cry for attention, it pertained to Andy's obnoxious use of animated emojis. Had nothing to do with you. So hop off.
