So who do you think will be the bigger name in 10 years?

Austin Dillon has proved himself worthy of a cup ride by winning two major series championships in 3 years.

Kyle Larson the kid phenom predicted to be the next Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson..

I'm curious who you guys think will have the better career in the cup series and why?

I'll go with the proven commodity with a helluva track record, Austin Dillon. I don't think Larson has the staying power.

That's pretty much where I'm at too... Austin proved himself on track.. he may start slow but I think he'll be fine.. I don't expect him to do that great but to have a pretty decent career. Kyle Larson honestly hasn't shown much in a stock car.. I don't think he'll have a great first year.. maybe run up front a bit but I don't expect him to show up at the end. I also expect him to wreck a bunch of cars this year... while Austin Dillon runs and finishes 15th or so and Larson wrecks running 12th and finishes 35th kinda deal..

One big thing is Austin has a helluva support group with ton's of experience and I mean the kind of day to day family support and racing knowledge that you can't buy.

Yup... his Pop Pop will make sure he's got the best equipment.. I saw on RaceHub yesterday that he was actually in victory lane when Dale Sr. won the 500... that's pretty cool. I never really was a big fan of Austin's but I do think he'll be just fine.. I don't see him winning this year unless it's on a plate track but anything is possible. He was the one who made the move at the end of the last Dega race ..Didn't turn out so well but if it did he very well could have one cup win to his name already.

Dillon has proved himself by winning those two Nationwide championships. Larson has done..... Zlich, Zero, Nothing.

Ya'll go ahead, I'ma root for the kid that hasn't had the best of everything possible handed to him since he could crawl. Too bad he's driving for that tool Ganassi, but that will change someday.

Like win a series championship in his first year in stock cars.

Yep. Is Larson the less proven of the two, absolutely. To say he has done nothing just because he couldn't win a Nationwide race last year driving for a non-Cup team is a stretch, though.

You know he won the K&N Pro Series East in his rookie season, right? And that he came closer to winning (four 2nd-place finishes in contrast to three) a Nationwide race last year than Dillon did, right?
You know Joey was the first to win a K&N championship in his first year? Even he went on to win 3 NNS races in his first part time season... and look how he did for the first 4 years... but regardless of any of that... Dillon has clearly proved himself waaaaay more.

So you're telling me he'll be a Chase driver with the right team. Ok.

Obviously Dillon has shown more - Larson has been in stock cars for a whopping total of two years and didn't drive for one of the top Nationwide organizations. Kyle has still won a series title, won at the Truck level, and earned as many Top 5s as anyone except Dillon and Hornish last year. He'll be fine.

Not saying he won't... I think Dillon will do better. I don't think either of them will do much this year....

He won the K&N Pro Series East in 2012. Chase Elliott, Darrell Wallace Jr., and Corey LaJoie were a few of the full-time drivers he beat out.
yeah the 2012 crop of K&N racers was tough competition I'll give Larson that, but again, Larson is handcuffed by his lack of track and racing experience compared to Dillon, so I can't expect him to do as well on paper anyway. It would be something if he can overcome that and win the Rookie of the year.

In the first year or two, Austin Dillon. In the long run, Kyle Larson. Right now, Dillon's got a huge advantage in terms of equipment and having been in NASCAR for several years.

Dillon/Larson will be a repeat of 2002 where the better driver loses Rookie of the Year but has more success in the long run.

Dillon hit everything but the pace car yesterday.

Larson ate the wall, twice and was three laps down when the other blue chip rookie, bumper car Dillon and he got tangled up.. Allgaier only had about half a car at the finish, the rookies were definitely being rookies.

Larson is gonna be the next big thing.

How hard would Dillon shat his pants if he was in the same position Larson was just in now?

Fending off 2 of the best in NW and in Cup.

Clear advantage: Larson

Until you look at Cup points.
I think some fans put way to much value in points and championships when grading a drivers driving ability. You can be the best driver there is but if you don't havd a good crew and a good car and some good luck you may never get any points or championships. Didn't Kevin Harvick have a pretty dismal season with RCR and now after changing teams he would be in the points lead if he hadn't had two freak unlucky things happen to himself which had nothing to do with his driving skills.

When the car is great and the driver wins... the team doesn't get enough credit IMO.. Its all the driver... so why not put the blame on the driver for a bad finish too? Matt Kenseths team did more for those wins last year than he did.

Also no... Kevin did not have a dismal season whatsoever.. lol 3 wins and 3rd in points is pretty much the opposite of dismal.. Id say its very impressive... especially as a lame duck driver.

In the very long run it will be Dillon cause he can move into the owners chair.

Dillon does not have the cha-cha behind the wheel. Which is why RCR has elected to have Dillon run the majority of the Xfinity Series races in 2015.

Austin Dillon to run a majority of Xfinity season: Two-time NASCAR Champion #3-Austin Dillon will return to the NASCAR XFINITY Series with Rheem Manufacturing Company as primary sponsor on Richard Childress Racing's #33 Chevy for a majority of the 2015 season. Dillon, the 2013 XFINITY Series Champion, will drive the #33 Rheem Chevy under the RCR banner during the 2015 season while maintaining a full schedule in RCR's #3 Chevy SS in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He is a two-time XFINITY Series race winner, 10-time pole winner and holds the record for most consecutive poles in series history. Rheem Manufacturing Company has a long history of success with RCR having participated as a primary or associate sponsor since 2007 in various NASCAR series. Rheem has been the official heating, cooling and water heating provider to RCR for more than eight years and was the co-primary sponsor with Realtree of Ty Dillon's Sprint Cup Series debut this year at Atlanta Motor Speedway.(RCR)(11-25-2014)

A lot of Cup drivers are going to run most of the Xfinity Series.

whether we like it or not, the lower series is getting more competitive with full time cup drivers running cars for sponsor money and owners championships. RCR has a strong Xfinity program. They came in 3rd 5th and 8th last year. I wonder who they are going to give the boot to to make room for Austin, or will they go with 4 cars. Larson vs Dillion? heck if I know who is going to have the greatest career out of the two. I like both of them, Larson was getting his name called more in cup this year, they both did a good job for rookies I thought.
