I agree. You can learn how to drive a race car in a simulator but you can’t learn how to be a racer. There are way too many intangibles that you need to pick up that a sim just can’t give you.

You can learn a lot but there’s also no accountability for being a jackass in the simulator. A lot of these young guys have a jackass problem. Honest question: To what extent do they simulate the conditions of being in the car? I am talking heat and g forces.

I don't think it's going out on a limb to say that open wheel dirt is not the grassroots of stock car racing, a related but different discipline. We need more support for dirt and asphalt late model racing. You can learn transferable skills in open wheel dirt but for those of us who like racing...

Part of the core issue is that NASCAR teams don’t even see the grassroots of stock car racing as its feeder any more. You either have to drive a winged sprint car really well or have a lot of money behind you to break in these days.

You just have to read his other posts. He’s always blaming NASCAR and the France family for everything.

And practice sessions were cut down at the request of the RTA, not NASCAR. And you just spent months cheering on a team owner against NASCAR.
