Congrats Ryan

This screams "elderly person using the computer" lol. Jon gave Grandpa the password

Congrats to Blaney and TWB... freaking awesome

It was a "quirky" race - but the #21 car had to be there to get there...so congrats! I thought one of the most comical things in the race was KyBu trying to block all the way down to the yellow line when he knew he was screwed at the end - the pack on new tires were coming and you can't block em all for 25 miles :D

Maybe not? There was already talk of Penske re-starting the 12 w/ Blaney driving. The chances of the sponsorship for that popping up definitely just jumped.

The 12 Snap-On car would become an instant favorite amongst gear heads.

I hope the Wood Brothers stay their own entity but have help and input from Penske...... hopefully they can keep Blaney and run the full schedule..... When the Wood Brothers fold up shop we have lost the oldest continually operating team in Nascar by decades...... Teams have come and gone....... they have somehow always managed to weather the storm throughout some really tough years...... years when lesser teams would have thrown in the towel......

Pretty cool stat about the Wood Brothers...4 of the last 5 victories for the #21 Wood Brothers car had a first-time winner behind the wheel: Dale Jarrett at Michigan in 1991, Elliott Sadler at Bristol in 2001, Trevor Bayne at Daytona in 2011, and Ryan Blaney today. The only one that wasn't was Morgan Shepherd, who got his last career cup win in the #21 car at Atlanta in 1993.

Believe it or not I first saw the Wood Bros crewing for Jimmy Clark at Indy. My pop told me Clark was dissatisfied with his previous Indy crew and asked Ford who was the best pit crew in the country, they said "NASCAR'S Wood Bros".

Clark brought them in, they showed Indy what gas and go was all about and Clark won.

I asked pop what's NASCAR and a few weeks later he showed me a Grand National on Wide World Of Sports I think. Highlights only in those days.

Went to Riverside that year and been a fan ever since.

Great post......

AWESOME WIN! Congrats to the Wood Brothers and Ryan. They've worked their rear end off this year to compete. Blaney is part of my big 3 that I pull for (Jr and Chase are the other two). He's a tough competitor. Had to make good moves to get around Bush who was throwing haymaker blocks on him, then hold off Happy.

Great win good to see the 21 get a win, but it really is the third Penske team, just like the 43 is the third RFR, and the 78 and 77 are Gibbs teams right down to the crews in that case.

In most cases you are correct but the #78 was kicking ass before going to Toyota and they were a one horse team at the time.

I think they've been better since aligning with Gibbs though. Truex won once in two seasons in the #78 Chevrolet, and has won six times in 1-1/3rd seasons in the #78 Toyota. Granted, Truex did make the Championship Four in the Chevy, but overall I think that team's been stronger with JGR.

Will you qualify the victory with that asterisk if the 43 scratches out a win?

The Wood Brothers were smart to partner with Penske and get away from Roush. Petty should do the same.

Petty isn't allied with Roush. They are about broke, leased one of their charters this season and are a one car team. Last I heard they are hanging their own bodies and building their own chassis. I'm only guessing that they get their motors from Roush Yates. One of the better underdog teams to root for IMO.

Nope they are full on Roush, and yes I would put an asterisk by it if they won.

The only reason Penske is on board with the Woods is because his driver is in the seat. And he will be taken out and put in the third Penske ride if sponsor is found. Penske would not help any any competitor unless there is something in it for him.
