oh Them Woods Brothers

I just don't like the idea of sat teams. If you can't get the job done alone then walk away. Petty stopped building htheir own cars at the end of 2016 for the record.
that isn't true. Not only that, it is a common practice to cut costs. With that thinking Stewart Haas and many other teams should have hung it up long ago:confused:

For smaller teams, the business model has changed.

If those teams working on business to business relationships with the major players "walked away" there would be 20 car fields.

And that would be fine. I just find it hard to buy a car or lease one from a competitor, then take a factory engine which they all do that, and win a race with a competitors car. Takes a little away from the whole thing.

best solution would be to root for a team who you think build all their own stuff..casts their own engine, Tires, fuel cells, makes their own plastic for their car wraps..ya know full organic. :):D Just kidding ya dude. all in good fun

It's a decades old practice. If it were not, Hopkins, Mathews, Stock Car Products, Baldwin and Nelson, Holman and Moody et al would never have gone into the chassis building business. There would never have been shops that hung bodies, built race engines, transmissions and rear gears for sale.

It's a commercial enterprise. Few teams built their own cars "back in the day" and few do so now.

The only reason Penske is on board with the Woods is because his driver is in the seat. And he will be taken out and put in the third Penske ride if sponsor is found. Penske would not help any any competitor unless there is something in it for him.
I was of the opinion that Ford is the one sponsoring the Wood Bros. and they are part of the Alliance. Right now Penske is more concerned with the sponsorship of the #2 car. Blaney is in a good place right now however the only reason to move him in house is when he is a champion contender. At that point it benefits Penske.

lol. I would say more but I've been busy unliking posts.

You'll notice I didn't like that one even though I wanted to.

I think that point was reached last Sunday.
I'd rather see him stay with the 21 but Roger is the man to make that call.

Add to that the Kes to the 88 rumor might be picking up steam, the Woods could lose Blaney to the 2.

I thought Kez said no deal, he is staying with Penske.
Why would he go to HMS? First he would have to kill his truck team then he would still be second fiddle to Johnson and also have to deal with baby Elliot.
He has two pretty good partners where he is right now and his car is faster than HMS.

Yeah, I think going to HMS would be a parallel move at best, maybe even a slight downgrade.

I'd like to see the 21 continue to be a badass satellite team. I'm gonna be kinda bummed when Blaney goes to somewhere like the 2(even though the talk of him getting a 'top-tier' ride gives me a half-chub)

Keselowski isn't going anywhere though. He has some solid roots at Penske at this point.

That's a good point. Could very well use the 88 situation as contract leverage. One thing I am sure of I fully expect a big name proven winner in the 88. It won't be someone like Patrick or a rookie.

yeah if Byron or Bowman were getting the ride I would have thought that would be announced by now. Rick is probably cherry picking resumes to see who is interested first, but either of those two youngsters could do a good job on the driving end IMO. The sponsor side is another thing.

Kez is saying publicly he wants to stay with Roger. Unless this is some kinda tricky reverse psychology thing, Kez is laying his cards out on the table to stick with the 2 car.:)

What somebody says and what they do can be two different things. I trust nothing until the press conferences. Saying I want to does not at this point = I am staying.

ah you may say anything that you want..not trying to be snarky, but Keselowski as I know him is a straight shooter..people might not agree with him, but he is what he is. So I'm going by what he says, he and Roger will work out a deal.

I bet the Woods are already talking with Penske about which of their development drivers gets the 21 once Blaney is brought in-house. There's no way they aren't going to try to keep that deal.

you could be right, we all know Hendrick needs a driver or two. I do think it would take a wheelbarrow full of money to get him to jump ship from Penske.
