Rate The Cup Race: Phoenix I

That was a great race. 3 and 4 way battles for the lead between multiple teams and manufacturers. Contrarian strategies at the end. TV coverage wasn't perfect, but they were pretty good at catching the best parts. Outcome was in doubt til the very end. 9.5, best race of the season so far.

Eh, to be fair even FOX and everyone else is using the reconfigure term. Probably because of the grand stands too.

Race was good. Comers and goers. 8.5

9, for sure. This was the most entertaining race yet. Nice to see Kurt Busch get a stage win and show speed, but even better to see three cars duke it out for supremacy. Well done by Harvick to make it three wins in a row and hold off the likes of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and Chase Elliott.

Amazing what tire wear and long green flag cycles can fix.
The different pit cycles, and tire management strategies ensures closing speeds and opens passing lanes. All while providing 3 or 4 contenders that looked win worthy, and they ran some great laps while close together.
So much better than a double file restart parade, and the dreaded infamous aero problems.

So thankful to see things correctly resetting. I have critized Nascar without mercy in the past. I am so thankful to be an enthusiasts of what they are doing, now.
This is the good times stuff, racing done classically right.
Makes you think about the goodness all week long, and want more the next race.
It made me dream about driving as boy, one that I failed at, but I am still thankful for the dream.
I hope it inspired some boys and girls today.

Thank you Nascar.

9.5. Another race with a couple of long green flag runs. Unlike Vegas, alternate pit strategies were in play again in stage 3.

If Hamlin / Harvick / Busch / Elliott didn't have your attention, it may be time to stop watching.
I watched golf. Who won?
So did I, but that's what DVRs are for ;)
