I know the question was always asked when they were together, but since the divorce Chad seems to be one coming out better. I understand Jimmie has had a ton of bad luck this year, but what Chad has been able to quietly accomplish with the 24 team this year has been pretty remarkable.

At this point I see Chad sticking around the sport longer than Jimmie

I think honestly it was a mix of both.

If Chad can get multiply championships with another driver, than I'll be willing to lean more towards it being more him. But I look at it like I look at Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. If they never had each other, the success isn't anywhere near as high for either of them.

Chad has been racing for points for the most part with Byron all year, Johnson has been going for broke IMO. And I don't know what the hell is going on with both of them, but I think Byron (age) is a no brainer. He will do better as time goes on. No way he will get 7 championships, with five in a row. Jimmie's history can't be changed. Chad has every reason to stay at Hendrick until he retires or finds a better opportunity. He has years left to go until retirement and many chiefs in the industry have moved into management over the years.

Chad and Jimmie worked well with each other. Chemistry gets results.

I feel like it’s a matter of time until Byron wins. But maybe it’s been a little more challenging than Chad thought it’d be up to this point working with a new driver?

24 has run well, no doubt.

During JJ/Chad reign, the cars were different and Chad knew what JJ wanted and how to give him the advantage at the Chase Tracks.
The cars are different now and they are really driving 3 different cars depending on the track.
I think JJ is not able to adjust himself to contend with all these changes and some certainly go against his driving style. I believe that is why we have so many different winners this year.
No one driver is always getting the car he wants.

Well obviously Chad looks a little better right now. But crew chiefs don't age nearly as much like drivers often do.

In just about all motorsports there has been a driver, crew chief combo that just jells and excels above the rest for a period of time. As far as the age old question of who is the most important...I feel their both pretty important kind of like a good soft drink. A soft drink doesn't taste very good if the syrup and carbonation isn't just right...but when it is then POW! you have a winning combination...unless you don't like soda.:)

Just Sprite and Ginger Ale.

Coke if there's rum in it ;)
