Larsons priority is indy today!

There's no reason to set a minimum. The potential for missing stage, race, and bo us points, along with owner and sponsor pressure, are sufficient to discourage drivers from missing more thana race or two during the regular season. Skipping a playoff race isn't open for discussion.
I mean idk, you gotta have something, or SVG could’ve been in last years. Unless you do like “gotta be in a chartered car.” Or something, which might already be a rule I don’t know about.

Not open for discussion? A driver can miss a race in the playoffs for injury. If he had already won a race, I believe there would be plenty of discussion.

So the rule is that the points go to the driver that starts the race and not the driver that finishes, except that Allgaier isn't eligible.

Got it.
The official points and the Pick 'Em points are two different things. The rules of the game are pretty clear, in my opinion.

I understand Kyle committing to the 500. Hendrick and company have put a lot of effort(and money) into this. It's
good exposure for NASCAR -- proves that maybe our drivers can drive something other than "taxi cabs".
I also think Jeff Gordon is living vicariously thru Kyle's efforts.
And IMO, Kyle would like to prove something to himself -- that he CAN drive almost anything with wheels.

I'd bet anything that Rick had that waiver in place with NASCAR before shifting their stance of the 500 taking priority. Cause this whole time it was "the cup car is still the priority".
He only needed to inform Nascar that Larson would be getting a waiver.

So next thought. Kyle finishes the 500, makes the flight to the 600 about the time storms hit (hopefully the plane and helicopter can fly). If the 600 is red flagged, what are the circumstances required for a driver change during a red flag? Make one lap under yellow, swap drivers, start tail end?

Are we supposed to be okay and accepting of the decision? I mean, now what’s gonna stop drivers from racing wherever the heck they want each weekend if they’ll just get a waiver? I was 100% on board with him running both. I was excited to see how he did in Indy. But if it’s one or the other, I think it should definitely be Charlotte. That’s just my opinion though, which I know doesn’t mean anything to you.
I will repeat myself...he has to do what his boss wants him to do and that is to race in the Indy 500.

Heck, he's getting a chance to showcase his potential in good equipment. Isn't that enough? Maybe they'll give him $10 so he can buy a biggie bag, but that'll be it.
Yeah … he’s gonna do it for nothing.

Your cat wouldn’t take that deal.

@Spotter22 . As I understand the rules, a driver of good health and well being has to start each and every Nascar Race to be eligible for the Championship. Waivers have been granted to some drivers for health issues. Larson's decision to run the Indy 500 over a points paying Nascar race would then make him ineligible to compete for the championship.
Am I close to being correct here?
That's is correct, if he stays he already has permission from NASCAR

That's your decision to not accept the decision. You can belly ache all ya want. It won't change a thing. It's similar to farting in a whirlwind.

If he were running the Knoxville nationals then I would have a problem, Indy, I get it.

The entire point of the rule they put in place (running all the races) was to prevent exactly what they’re allowing today.

That’s my issue.

I’ve said 1,000 times I think drivers should be allowed to skip races for any reason they want because someone skipping a race for funsies isn’t gonna happen.

This and an F1 race are about the only exceptions I’d make
I agree. The crown jewels prove they bring attention. Who knows, maybe Larson runs both again next year, and the year after runs Monaco in a Haas car...

I think that "in theory" a double with Monaco and 600 would be possible. Would require a whole bunch of money changing hands for passports, charter flights, etc to get from Italy across the north pole to North Caroline in a time efficient manner.

Math- Indy usually 3 hours but looks like it could be longer with what's going on now. This is assuming he finishes, then Heli ride to Indy Regional- 20 Min, Then an hour flight back to Charlotte Regional, about 3 miles from the track. Helicopter in. I'm not sure he can Make it.

So Rick has 2 Embraer 145's . Those are crew Planes but they can Make the trip from Indy to Charlotte in under 45 Minutes.. I'm sure Rick has a Personal jet that may be able to do it faster but either way, Larson is gonna get here quick
