Dirt Track racing icon Scott Bloomquist killed in plane crash near his Mooresburg home

Authorities have confirmed that race car driver Scott Bloomquist has been involved in a small aircraft crash near his home in the Mooresburg Community in Hawkins County.

RIP, sadly I remember he was on the Dale Jr Download and talked about flying he didn't have a license.

Death. Bloomquist was killed on August 16, 2024 while flying his personal vintage airplane at his home in Mooresburg in Hawkins County, Tennessee.

I thought about the movie Second Hand Lions for some reason. Bloomquist reminds me of a similar type.

Terrible news. RIP. He was one of the best who did it. I got to see him race on dirt the first time ever this summer, so glad I did.

Naturally I got to thinking about Ted Christopher. Small plane crash 9/16/17, dies age 59. Scott Bloomquist passes on the anniversary minus one month, at 60yo. Both were considered the best who ever did it.

After reading the article, was a Chevy. Built by Cornett. Guess swapped to Ford later? I really don't know. Wasn't a Bloomer fan. Didn't dislike.

Godspeed to "Black Sunshine," a true giant in late model dirt racing. One of the most colorful nicknames in all of sports, and one of the most appropriate, IMO.
