Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway Pre-Race Thread

Sadly Bristol is notorious for this. When I went several years ago I booked the day the NASCAR schedule came out and got a very reasonable rate before they raised their prices

I did the same, but it was still something like $400/night to stay at a Super 8 about 30 miles from the track (Kingsport). I believe this was in 2015.

A few years later, I got tickets to Martinsville the day they announced the schedule and managed to get at a room at the Hampton Inn about 15 minutes from the track, for just $120. I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, I've tried that a few times since and they are always booked. I'm assuming people within the sport have early access to the schedule so team members/media/sponsors/etc can make travel arrangements before it gets out to the public. Regardless, I got really lucky that year

I checked into renting a Camper set in place ready to go for the race week. $8500.00. Not happening!

Yikes! That's crazy.

Hopefully there are cheaper campground options near the track for people who bring their own campers?

There are reasonably priced camper sites for sure. The outfit I checked out only had pusher coaches for rent (they advertised regular campers but, they did not have any), it included set up, generator, tent chairs tables potty service and was to be all set up on the drag strip side camp grounds but. All I had to do was show up. $8500.00 for 4 days, hell naw! BTW, that price did not include a kiss.

$400.00 a night for a Super 8! Damit man.:whoopee:

Ablington, Wytheville, Asheville, maybe even Sevierville. There are plenty of affordable places if one is willing to accept 60 to 90 minute drive. I admit that's a pain at 11pm but Dad and I did it several times. Johnson City is for those whose wool has grow out and is in need of a close shearing, or those who truly enjoy a version of cornhole that predates the tailgating game.
So many are not willing to accept that kind of a drive. I don't have a problem with it. When my kid was too young to be at the track for three consecutive days, I'd stay at Disneyland when I went to Fontana. 50 minutes or so.....wife and kid hung with Mickey while I took in Friday Practice and Qualifying, Ahhhhh Fontana......time for another kick in the crotch pic....

It's a trade-off. You can be close to the track, or you can have reasonably priced lodging. It depends on one's priorities.
I agree....and if weather is not a factor....which is impossible to know.....the distance can pose challenges. FWIW....Phoenix doesn't play gouging games. You can stay 20 minutes from the track without any screw jobs. I imagine the Avondale stuff has some increase...but not anything further north.

Yeah, but Phoenix is a much bigger city with more hotels, the track seats far fewer people, and the surrounding areas aren't trying to do a year's worth of business in two weekends. I'm finding plenty of major chains at $150 or less for the Roval within 20 minutes, although the hotels closest to the track are over $350 per night.

I am totally screwed. My satellite receiver bit the dust -- today of all days.
Nothing the tech tried over the phone did anything but reinforce the fact that I have complete signal loss.
Tech can't get out to my home before Tuesday morning.
No, I don't have an over the air antenna -- wouldn't do me any good due to my location.

I'll try to watch on my computer.

If you can get it on computer/phone could you sent it to bigger tv

NASCAR does friction testing every event, every weekend, usually after each race and multiple times a weekend.

Not sure exactly what it is but I assume it's just a lot of nerdy measurements for Goodyear and NASCAR

Just went back and checked. For three nights attending the spring race...
In 2015 I booked the Econolodge in Bristol and paid a total of $179.99.
In 2016 the Comfort Inn Johnson City for $231.85.
In 2021 I booked the Quality Inn in Bristol for $241.02

I always do this with Atlanta as well. Sometimes I even book before the schedule comes out since you can cancel the reservations without penalty.

Hope that works.

If not, NASCAR.com’s live leaderboard links to the PRN broadcast … those 2 running together and the r-f race thread. Good luck. 😎

Another year, another missed opportunity to attend the Bristol night race. ☹️

My dad and I attended the Bristol spring race in 2012 and loved it.

I spent a bunch of money in Rome / Italy recently (got to see the other great coliseum), have a cruise coming up, and am not in a financial position to be giving up work hours or spending money on race tickets.

You made good choices.
