If Kyle Larson is the greatest driver in the world

Also keep in mind that if the 5 team doesn't get Kyle out of the pits first at Phoenix, he has ZERO championships. Tell me his way is the right way after he has won a couple of these.
I don't know why I'm debating you on this. Larson is absolutely the best driver in Cup and if he thought at the moment that move was the right thing to do, who the hell are you to think you know better? Love you Monday morning Qb's. If the 45 blasted into 3 on the top and hit the wall and lost the race you would be telling me he should have taken the bottom and tried to slide him on the exit in 4. Its comical

Some people can't appreciate or see greatness, they are too busy at picking everything apart. Just like this. Larson was driving a heavily damaged car that in order to get speed out of the car, it had to run tight to the wall. He had one shot at getting the lead and trying to make it stick in front of faster cars. That stuff is what Larson drives for. It's a challenge.
Hamlin's bunch by hook or crook tried the same thing. Super good strategy but he didn't have the car, but they did a hell of a job with what they had to race with.

I've watched Larson his entire career drive like a maniac, dig himself into a hole, and then have to drive like even more of a maniac to try to dig himself out of it. He reminds me of Paul Tracy sometimes, minus the snotty attitude. Unbelievable talent, but often the proverbial dart with no feathers. It is my sincere opinion that if would stop trying to go 11/10ths all of time, he would win TWICE as often.

That's why you are where you are and he's where he is.

So says @Formerjackman ...question for you...have you ever seen this driving style result in a victory?

You GET IT. Others, never will

Because I have, quite a few times

No, he was busy gluing lug nuts on for a non competitive pit stop

I love the way he drives. Worth the price of a ticket or time watching on tv. Hes that good, I hope he never changes. It’s 100% win or go home.

Why would I fear any driver? Joey can beat them all and lose to them all. My fear won't change the outcome. I choose confidence in my driver.
Because some pose more of a threat to your driver than others.....and yeah, objectively, I suppose your emotion doesn't change the outcome, but that what makes any sport awesome IMO. The loyalty and irrational advocacy for a driver or team. That's just me. I suppose that there will be a green flag and then a checkered. What happens in between with the ebbs and flows of adrenaline is living.....just my opinion of course.

No one poses a threat higher than anyone else imo. Anything can happen. Anyone can have the fastest car any week and Joey and his team have shown us more than the rest of these guys that they can do what needs to be done when the time comes.

I would have to think awfully hard for an example in Cup where his "style" has resulted in a win he wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Most of his wins this year he had the dominant car and it was just up to him not to screw it up. I'm open to suggestions here, but I'm just not really thinking of anything.

Respectfully, I do not agree. Kyle Larson is the biggest threat in the field. If you want your guy to win, he is your biggest problem.

That's exactly it. Why worry? 1 in 4 is pretty good odds lol
Because worrying is ****** awesome. That's sport man! Practice for life. I'm twisted up over it all, and it feels great! My life is so good that I am blessed to worry about this stuff. It isn't always that way. Can't wait to get on the plane one week from today!

Larson was a big threat last Sunday too.. I try not to worry about things I can't control. I'm on borrowed time too so it's whatever lol Joey was already out and we're back.

Fair....I am ****** about worrying about things I can't control.....

Haha, not everyone experiences sports like this, and those who don't really don't understand it.

I see it like this... Truthfully, I have predictions for how tomorrow is gonna go for Larson which I think are logical. But I could also be wrong, because the speed is there, the points aren't insurmountable at all, and there's plenty of reasons to think he can get it done. But logically, it just makes more sense to me that elimination is more likely. Which is disappointing, but I'm at peace with that, despite knowing it very well may work out, and that it isn't over until it's over. I can tolerate the disappointment and worry. It's not a big deal. In fact, I do have some confidence that things will work out tomorrow, even if logically it's unlikely.

But that's the only time I'll say that this weekend lol because find that boring and just disengaging.

that kind of thinking and grounded attitude towards something is reserved for real life. NASCAR, sports, my favorite fictions etc just aren't important and there's no harm, no reason to curb the in the moment reactions to the highs and lows, and it just makes me feel more engaged in the moment. It's just fun.

It's not even real worry or overreacting, rather it's just deliberately pouring gasoline on the smouldering fire because why not? I always get amused seeing people react to what I say when I chose to be emotional. I never believe the things I'm saying. It's a choice, I just wouldn't have as much fun watching sports if I didn't let myself expeirence the emotional highs or lows

Some people just choose to expeirence sports that way. "Chill and enjoy". Nah, I would lose interest in sports if that's how I chose to watch them

I'm with ya. Worrying is fun when it's about something as trivial as a sport that has no real negative outcome to your life. It's just engaging.

Are you just going by what TV shows you or are you watching every lap from his in car camera?

He makes all kinds of moves when he's coming from the back to front, which he has done several, several times this season alone.

It's frustrating. Despite all the mistakes he's made this season, he still was by far the best driver.

Sure, he screwed himself at Homestead. But zero stage points at Vegas and Homestead ultimately are what cost him a deserved final 4 spot.

We can tool on him for wrecking himself and making mistakes, but he truly is only missing out due to a failed pit stop and a freak blown tire.

Other than that, he's won the most races, won the most stages, lead the most laps, lead the most laps, won the most races and stages in the playoffs.

And without the points reset, he would have all but locked up his second full season championship this season.

Larson deserves his second cup championship this year, and it's a ******* travesty he won't be able to race for it.

Bummed. It sucks seeing your favorite driver at the peak of his powers miss out on the championship race in whatever format it’s run. Almost as if it’s a wasted year, a drivers prime doesn’t last forever

Missed the final 4 by seven points, there were 8 points available at the 600 and 5 points for the full season championship. If Larsen didn't skip the 600 he might be racing for a championship next year and we wouldn't have had the bell/Byron debacle.

We still don't know for a while though. He still might be racing for one next year.

Kyle Larson is the most complete driver on the track in this era. Is he a Johnson/Stewart/Gordon? Let’s watch 5 more years. Championships don’t add up today like they used to and Earnhardt and Petty raced in an entirely different world.

But I’m hard pressed to see anyone else currently on the track out performing him across cars and venues. I really wish he’d not been so weather snakebite with Indy but if still support him trying again.

Championships don't go to the best driver. They go to the driver that does the best job. Larson beat Elliott like a drum all season, but in the end only 20 or so points separated the two. Same could be said for Byron. At some point you have to do more than just win races and be spectacular. You have to maximize EVERY single opportunity.
