Silly Season 2025

Keep in mind, 'incredible' means 'hard to believe', not 'excellent'. 'Hard to believe' doesn't necessarily mean 'hard to believe in a good way'.
I think in the way it was meant, was that he was doing well in the playoffs. He didn’t do well, he didn’t do well in any time in a cup car. I’m shocked he’s getting yet another opportunity, this won’t amount to much imo.

Well in Ryan's defense he's been in second rate cup equipment the whole time. Heck even one year at JTG they ran a whole season without a charter

A person would have to be looking really hard to find any signs of life in any of the four Stewart Haas drivers. It's easy to say "it's the car" but I am not that sure about that. A good way to solve the riddle will be next year when they go to separate teams.

I'm not optimistic. I think they are field fillers that are bringing money or advertising value for the most part.
I don't believe Briscoe and expect to see Mahindra plastered all over the side of his JGR car. Who is to say that JGR didn't already talk to Mahindra and didn't need to talk with Briscoe about sponsor money. They have been known to keep driver's sponsors long after they booted the driver.
If I do see Mahindra plastered all over the side of Briscoe's yota, I believe he is there because of his sponsorship and not because of his driving ability. Time will tell. I don't see Briscoe setting the world on fire at JGR.

Menards are OK with Berry, he's home improvement age.

Gragson is a very popular driver with the fans and a step up in that way from McDowell. Driver skill? I don't think he is as good as McDowell.

Preece if he goes to RFK was a WTF moment when I first heard the rumor. We find out soon if that is so.

Perhaps it didn't show in the stats, but Preece was consistently running inside the top 10, top 15 during the last several races.

I think he's worthy of a good ride, Preece is one of my favorite drivers so that may be my bias getting in the way.

First 5 playoff races: 12th, 18th, 9th, 7th, 16th, followed by a DNF at a superspeedway. He also had a top 10 at Homestead followed by a solid showing at Martinsville, one of his strongest tracks.

I remember people comparing him to Burton. In my opinion, that is a silly comparison. Burton didn't do anything in a fourth Penske car.

I thought SHR had put together a fantastic line-up with plenty of upside. It's a shame that they decided to close shop, because I could see them improving every year to the point of having multiple playoff drivers.

I think they all deserve another chance; all are excellent drivers.

McDowell is a top 5 threat at the plate tracks and a top 10 at twisties. Any second-tier or lower team would benefit from his presence. Spire did well to sign him.

Of course you would. I think Tony not being around hurt the team overall, but even when they knew all of their jobs were on the line, nobody stood out. Nobody made any highlight reels, I believe Preece was mentioned a couple of times by the gerbils, one time he was up in the front because of race strategy, not from driving up there. Briscoe's win was never backed up, first round out I believe. Somebody who would have never made that if it wasn't for win and you are in.

I think it will be a good comparison to watch between Gragson and McDowell. Front Row didn't get rid of McDowell to hire Gragson though. McDowell made the move. I think the cars at Spire will thank him after LaJoie leaves if nothing else. Body hangers will celebrate.

There comes a point where the body of work is the tell tale sign. A legendary NFL coach once said “you are what your record says you are.” This applies here, he’s middling at best in a Cup Car.
