I think in the way it was meant, was that he was doing well in the playoffs. He didn’t do well, he didn’t do well in any time in a cup car. I’m shocked he’s getting yet another opportunity, this won’t amount to much imo.Keep in mind, 'incredible' means 'hard to believe', not 'excellent'. Right...that stretch was just good ole regular Ryan Preece...Keep in mind, 'incredible' means 'hard to believe', not 'excellent'. 'Hard to believe' doesn't necessarily mean 'hard to believe in a good way'.
Heck, finishing in the Top 20 in 6 out of 10 races might still be the best stretch of his cup career .Preece in the playoffs
0 top 5
4 NOT in the top 20
1 top 10 in the last 7 races

I thought SHR had put together a fantastic line-up with plenty of upside. It's a shame that they decided to close shop, because I could see them improving every year to the point of having multiple playoff drivers.A person would have to be looking really hard to find any signs of life in any of the four Stewart Haas drivers. It's easy to say "it's the car" but I am not that sure about that. A good way to solve the riddle will be next year when they go to separate teams.
I'm not optimistic. I think they are field fillers that are bringing money or advertising value for the most part.
I don't believe Briscoe and expect to see Mahindra plastered all over the side of his JGR car. Who is to say that JGR didn't already talk to Mahindra and didn't need to talk with Briscoe about sponsor money. They have been known to keep driver's sponsors long after they booted the driver.
If I do see Mahindra plastered all over the side of Briscoe's yota, I believe he is there because of his sponsorship and not because of his driving ability. Time will tell. I don't see Briscoe setting the world on fire at JGR.
Menards are OK with Berry, he's home improvement age.
Gragson is a very popular driver with the fans and a step up in that way from McDowell. Driver skill? I don't think he is as good as McDowell.
Preece if he goes to RFK was a WTF moment when I first heard the rumor. We find out soon if that is so.
McDowell is a top 5 threat at the plate tracks and a top 10 at twisties. Any second-tier or lower team would benefit from his presence. Spire did well to sign him.Gragson is a very popular driver with the fans and a step up in that way from McDowell. Driver skill? I don't think he is as good as McDowell.
Of course you would. I think Tony not being around hurt the team overall, but even when they knew all of their jobs were on the line, nobody stood out. Nobody made any highlight reels, I believe Preece was mentioned a couple of times by the gerbils, one time he was up in the front because of race strategy, not from driving up there. Briscoe's win was never backed up, first round out I believe. Somebody who would have never made that if it wasn't for win and you are in.I thought SHR had put together a fantastic line-up with plenty of upside. I think they all deserve another chance; all are excellent drivers.
I think it will be a good comparison to watch between Gragson and McDowell. Front Row didn't get rid of McDowell to hire Gragson though. McDowell made the move. I think the cars at Spire will thank him after LaJoie leaves if nothing else. Body hangers will celebrate.McDowell is a top 5 threat at the plate tracks and a top 10 at twisties. There comes a point where the body of work is the tell tale sign. A legendary NFL coach once said “you are what your record says you are.” This applies here, he’s middling at best in a Cup Car.Well in Ryan's defense he's been in second rate cup equipment the whole time. Heck even one year at JTG they ran a whole season without a charter

Everyone said the same thing about Ross Chastain. "His stats suck!". Well, he was driving crap boxes his whole career. There comes a point where the body of work is the tell tale sign. Same story with Bowman.Everyone said the same thing about Ross Chastain. "His stats suck!". Well, he was driving crap boxes his whole career.
He gets a good ride and now look at him. I think Preece is as talented as Chastain, he just hasn't had the opportunity.
Chastain you could see was a diamond in the rough and would be a good driver in Xfinity if Cup didn’t work out. Jr had his eye on Bowman since he filled in driving the 88 and doing sim work for Chevy. I don’t think Preece is in either of those guys category of talent, but there’s no changing the opinion of Ryan Preece Truthers.Everyone said the same thing about Ross Chastain. "His stats suck!". Preece has been in the sport for a long time. Raced on many teams. IMO he has never out driven the stuff he has driven. Anybody could see Ross doing that though. That's a wheel holder, in for a paycheck, not to stick out the neck.Chastain you could see was a diamond in the rough and would be a good driver in Xfinity if Cup didn’t work out. Yea as much grief as I’ve given Ross on here, he’s a beast behind the wheel which was evident pretty quickly in trucks and to your point outdrove his equipment in both trucks/Xfinity. Preece drives to 15th for a few laps of a stage during a race and the Ryan Preece Truthers want to raise a championship banner.Preece has been in the sport for a long time. Raced on many teams. I don't talk with Brad personally so I will take your word for it.Long enough to make himself a proven race-winning crew chief.
I’d bet Brad K disagrees with your assessment.
I somewhat agree, BUT I once thought the same of Buescher and McDowell, so you never know.Yea as much grief as I’ve given Ross on here, he’s a beast behind the wheel which was evident pretty quickly in trucks and to your point outdrove his equipment in both trucks/Xfinity. Let me check with him. If he's cool with it, I'll send you his number.I don't talk with Brad personally so I will take your word for it.
In Chastain's case, he was a standout in the Trucks and the Xfinities. We all know The Cup level many times is a different animal. I would argue that Chastain is the best driver at Trackhouse against some really stiff competition from SVG who was the best there was in the SuperCar series when he came to Nascar. SVG has a rapidly diminishing advantage over the entire field at street courses, and he is getting better at the ovals, but he hasn't come close to winning on one while Chastain can and does win on the ovals.I somewhat agree, BUT I once thought the same of Buescher and McDowell, so you never know.
I’m a Corey fan and hope to see him back in a Cup car next season.I know I'm probably the only Corey Lajoie fan here, but on his last podcast he said he still doesn't know his plans for next year. Said there is multiple offers both in and out of a car. I would have to assume that some sort of media offer? Only thing I can think of is maybe something with Prime?

i don't think I'd want him driving a hauler.

So far, Funkaway seems to be waiting on what is offered to Parker Retzlaff, they did not recommit to Jordan (so far). Would not be surprised to hear an announcement that Retzlaff lands a ride and Funkaway is involved.I see Parker Retzlaff is out of a ride for next year. Have to wonder if that's any blow back from pushing the 21 to the win in the cap race?
