Denny Hamlin Appreciation Thread

Hamlin ain't my favorite but I have to admit I like him better everytime people hate on him.
It is just fun to see people so bothered and the way he handles it can be funny at times

I feel the same way as Greg about Hamlin. Which is kinda surprising to me, because I rarely soften my stance on a driver once I observe him acting like an entitled bitch and/or a two-faced hypocrite, which are character traits that I dislike intensely. And there is no denying that Denny Hamlin behaved like an entitled pr*ck who constantly bullied younger or less experienced competitors, starting fairly early in his career. Also, he has a penchant for saying really stupid, outlandish things, which often make him look bad for a long time after.

So it was easy for me to hate on Denny Hamlin... he deserved it... he earned my disdain.

However, in recent years I find that my opinion of Hamlin has evolved to a certain degree. As co-owner of 23XI, he has shown a dedication to the sport that runs deep. He has definitely shown an extra facet that I never knew he had. I respect that. And he's outspoken and candid, usually in a good way... generally not the self aggrandizing BS from his early and mid-career periods.

So I'm not a fan of DH, but I won't be cheering or gloating if Pious Joe says, "We love Denny, he is family," as he stabs him in the back.

I don't know what the **** is going on, but I don't like this for Denny....not a bit.
Boy wonder didn't like his crew chief so Hamlin gets him. Preacher has to make sure Hamlin falls on his face next year so he can finish him off when his contract expires. The first cut is the deepest.

I wonder if this is like the kyle and Adam split. Denny likes Chris, but how much did Chris like working for Denny?

Maybe 23X1 management will be able to find a minor role for Hamlin somewhere within their organizational structure.

Maybe.

You're so smart. How do you do it?

We've all seen this show numerous time before. There isn't any rocket science involved, just pull the yota moon dust out of your eyes. Ol' Joe has got the knife out and is sharpening the edge. Hamlin's days are numbered, so don't pull the poor Denny drama routine when it happens. I wouldn't be surprised if the crew chief disappears at the same time. Hamlin is too expensive to keep around and 23XI is taking away JGR's luster. "He Gets Us"...and he don't need them.

Looks like you might get another favorite driver then? I've got some A11 IN gear for ya. Hope it pans out better than your last new favorite.

With Busch kinda floating to the bottom NASCAR needed a new villain and Denny nobly stepped up. I kinda want him to win it all next year just to give people more to talk about. 😎

Hey Rev? They gave Hamlin Ty's old crew chief, I wonder if they will give him Ty's old car? Do you have any info about YOUR Tyotas?

jgr has saved themselves 50 million by getting rid of KB and now Hamlin. I am pretty sure Joes had an escape clause on DH contract regarding sponsors. They got rid of KB that way and out goes DH. As soon as 23/11 signed their third driver, Joe dumps Denny and doesn't have to worry about Denny driving his own cars. Of course Denny can be the 4th car for their company and run open.

The Fed X's don't go on trees. As soon as sold out Joe has to dig into his pocket for a driver the "he's family" goes out the window.

Somebody is looking for a friend.

A11 IN. They have hats and shirts. You ready? WE know how you are....

Denny is one the greatest talents this sport has seen, and also one of the most controversial. I hope he wins a championship before he retires, I think he still has a few good years left in him.
I think it would be completely appropriate for Denny to retire being the best driver to never win a title because unlike poor Mark Martin, Denny has often been the primary cause of his own failures. A title at this point would just let him off the hook for all the times he was his own worst enemy.

But if you listen to our boy @StandOnIt, this is a lotto.....so, really, it isn't Denny's fault, right?

54 wins in Cup cars. 18 wins in the Xfinity series and 2 in the Trucks.

3 time winner of both The Daytona 500 and The Southern 500 at Darlington. 4 Bristol wins and 5 each at Martinsville and Richmond. 4 at Kansas and 3 each at Texas and Homestead.

Beautiful, seemingly well-adjusted kids. Multi-millionaire. Part owner of a new race-winning Cup team alongside one of the wealthiest, most recognized athletes on the planet. Decent golf swing … handicap index under 10.0.

If Gibbs’ marketing team can’t sell that, they should all be replaced. And if Joe decides to tie the can to Hamlin’s ass, it’s not like he has nowhere else to go.

I’d like to see a Venn diagram comparing the relationships of people who slag Hamlin continuously for his inability to win a Cup with those who insist that NASCAR’s various playoff systems have not produced legitimate champions. Hamlin never ran an old school Cup season.

I’m thinking a pit road speed limiting chip in the ignition box would go a long way toward a Championship. Naturally, I could be wrong. 😎

I am thankful for this post. Happy Thanksgiving!

Me too!!! Not really necessary to flaunt Hamlin's accomplishments but much appreciated as well by someone who recognizes Denny's talent, business acumen and outspoken criticism when he feels he has seen or experienced an injustice or a way to improve the sport for everyone..

Denny has nothing to prove and the people who dislike him are either jealous because he beat their favorite driver or must criticize him for actions they deem whining. Most likely, Denny loves this sport more than those who are not vested as much as he is.
Critics try to dismantle objectives 23XI legal action toward NASCAR but in the end it is beneficial to all teams holding a charter. Some don't get it while others don't want to get it preferring to squirt on his shoes for making waves. Making waves is what gets things done that needs to be done.

my reason for disliking Denny is as a cup driver, he dropped down to Xfinity and bragged how he was going to crash out a young driver just getting started in the series. The fact that he bragged in advance and after doing, Nascar took no action, this has soured me on Nascar as well.

I think it would have been for a very reduced salary
And they jerked all of his sponsors out of his KBM Truck team and had Gilliland set up in a heart beat. It was a contract hit. At least Hamlin has a cash cow for now with 23XI, but for how long that continues being a losing proposition hemorrhaging cash who knows.

Hambone, for all his accomplishments, is an azz🍩. He’s a POS narcissist who worships himself and never does anything wrong. Amazingly NASCAR seems to look the other way when he has blatantly broken rules of racing on the track.

🍖 may never win a championship, which to me is fitting for someone who treats drivers and others like his underlings.

So,e do not agree with me, and that’s fine. I am proud to lead the thunderous chorus of booing fans at any track, any time.

Well said. Speaking of saying, Hamlin has been strangely quiet for a change after sold out Joe yanked his crew chief away from him and didn't tell him he did it.

With all the lawsuit talk around Denny Hamlin the owner, I’m curious if 2025 is the decline of Denny Hamlin the driver.

JGR quietly took Chris Gabehart away from the 11 team a couple weeks ago. Denny is a great driver but Gabehart is one of the best CCs in the business and huge part of Denny’s resurgence the last 5 years.

I don't think the crew chief change means much in terms of his future at JGR. Gabehart was notorious for doing weird strategies. They never won a title together either.

Hopefully, the new crew chief has a normal approach when it comes to his strategies. I think the crew chief swap was a desperate attempt by the people at Gibbs to try and get Hamlin that elusive title.
