College Football 2024

How do you punish flag planting?

If I'm with Michigan I have one of the seniors who never plays plant the flag.
The Big Ten fined both OSU and UM and the ACC fined all of UNC/NCSU/VT/UVA. Probably all they can do for now, but I could imagine them getting more heavy-handed with the fines and even move to suspensions in the future.

I think the move in the future will be to wait for the home team to clear the field and do it afterwards.

When Sun Belt Billy was given the vote of confidence for 2025, much of the funds raised for his buyout were reallocated towards NIL investments. Florida is 3-1 since then and going on a tear on the recruiting trail.

Rigged for Bama and Ohio State as always
Ohio State I really don’t have much of an issue with. They got 2 losses. One of those to the #1 team in the country, another a close one to Michigan, who yeah isn’t a great team this year, but it happens.

Nobody should be surprised that they found a way to put Bama back in. Seems odd to me that SMU & Boise State would have byes.

It seems it’s gonna take some time to adjust perceptions of what a “playoff team” is now that we’ve expanded to 12. This was always going to happen when the margin for error was opened up and will only get worse when they inevitably expand to 14 and then 16.

There’s been so much discourse about how the 5 seed is preferable to the 1 seed through the first two rounds that I would be surprised if they don’t get rid of the byes for the top four conference champions come 2026.
