If you listen to some people

Most any type of field/hands on engineer is in high demand right now. I can tell you almost every week I get a recruiter reaching out to me in one fashion or another and all I have is my work experience without a resume on LinkedIn

That's too bad- but not unexpected. I don't know if any SoCal old timers on here remember speedway 605? I believe it was across the 605 freeway from the current track- on the east side of the 605. My parents( had a separate division for the women)raced there in "claimer" stocks on Saturday nights in the early 70s. We would even occasionally take a trip to Saugus with a few other drivers from our home track. Speedway 605 had late models on the half mile track on Friday nights, claimers on the 1/4 mile on Saturday nights with the occasional figure 8 and demo derby. Even had swap meets on Saturday mornings. I believe it was shuttered by 1976 or so. That area has tried to have tracks a few times- unfortunately real estate values are so much more than gate receipts. So along with this new iteration of Irwindale speedway and California speedway I also say goodbye again to tracks from my youth- Speedway 605, Saugus, and Ascot.
