Cable cutters, rejoice

If you have Internet, Sling Blue is $42.80 which has USA & FS1. I get whole bunch of locals OTA so then you can use AirTV 2 to combine everything into the Sling menu. I thought the AirTv was worth it at the time but don't remember exactly why.

The no OTA for some of you sucks. In that situation pay or leave I guess.

Maybe should add don't watch any stick & ball sports.

I’m one more price increase away from dusting off my DVD player.

Do you get CW too?

There's nothing new about folks in the sticks being unable to pull in an OTA signal. Paying for satellite has long been their only option. Streaming gives them another option but they still have to paay somebody or do without. I wouldn't expect the situation to surprise them much.

Think get it OTA? Not sure. Don't have Sling right now. After the election couldn't bare to watch any news. Plus since doing dental & vision stuff hanging on to cash. I'll restart it in Feb maybe.

I pay for Prime with extra $2.99 no adds (but get poor people discount on Prime) & YouTube Premium. I spend at least 10 hrs day on YouTube. Currently bingeing House on Prime.

I don't know. I'm about to put my years of being a customer to the test.
During Covid signed up for AT&T el-cheapo Internetz. 15 bucks month. After 10 days realized it was worthless. Trying to cancel took me to three different AT&T locations. Last charged me an additional 15 bucks (I'd prepaid for first month) and took the hardware. Done and dusted.

Nope.

Three months later get mail from collection agency for $66.40? I'm always suspicious of this stuff. Used to be, they send one of these letters that says, PAY THIS AMOUNT & WE ALL DONE but nope. You just acknowledged "a debt" and they then start whatever "contract" they think you signed all over again. Just a never ending belt.

So...still "owe them" $66.40. They'll have to get it from my estate. Will NEVER do any business with AT & T again. Forgot about pervious/similar experience with their DSL 20 years ago. Bastards they are.

Took me three months to get rid of those AT&T blood suckers. They wouldn't shut the phone off after repeated calls.

Why does cable TV still exist ...
It doesn't require learning new skills or technologies.
You can call the company and they'll come out for installation and troubleshooting.
For some, the signal is more reliable than streaming.
Inertia.
It doesn't generate surprised squawking when the rates go up.

But you knew most of these already.

“Starting at…”

Which means for FS1, it’s probably $120/month and then $200/month after the first year.

I know how spectrum operates. And I pass.
I have spectrum, bro. It’s really Charter. They charge big money for minimal service.
Buck sixty-five a month here. Starts out at the $100 range and increases with time. No explanation, just more money.
Still beats the crap out of trying to keep up with the streaming bullschit. They know that. Eventually, what you think you’re saving will equate to the same cost for the same product.
I’m still offering the Nomex hats if your hair is still on fire.

I saw Sling increased their prices as well, by $6. I guess they figure they’ll still be the cheapest way to watch sports, so why not snag a few extra bucks from their subscribers.

Internet + YouTube TV is STILL cheaper than bundling with Spectrum.

The only streaming services I pay for are Peacock which is all of $8 and Prime Video (because it's included with Amazon Prime).

I'm done with all this.

If you can’t afford cable, you’re in the wrong job.

Outside of California, do you know how many people are being laid off, fired (in at-will states to prevent laid off employees from getting unemployment), getting pay cuts, having Christmas bonuses canceled, having benefits stripped, and having performance incentives canceled all in the last 30 days?

Learn to code, man.
Do you know what rent costs in California?

I pay it every month and don’t try to juggle streaming crap. I’m just offering suggestions.

Juggling streaming services is cheaper than cable.

I'm just saying that I decided a year ago that price increases (outside of Peacock) would result in immediate cancelation.

Well then you shouldn’t complain about any price increases and you should be celebrating the coverage.

This is terrible advice. There is not a single sector getting rocked harder in this sharp economic downturn we're experiencing than software engineering jobs.
Fuk bro, what is your limit on job experience?
Do. Something. Else.
Make money that affords you average comforts.
If what you’re doing isn’t working, do something else. That is literally the definition of success
