The track couldn't hold the laps. At the same time this year they started checking for tire doping, caught some also. Tire doping was found to be responsible for the track not being able to race well. It rubbers up and becomes one lane. It sounds like they are going back to 55 laps. The track stayed in exceptional shape thru the Shootout and the Chili Bowl this year.I haven't read the entire thread. Excuse me if this has been asked before. Why did they decide the cut the laps in the primary event from 55 laps to 40 laps?
I don't think I watched last year's race. I did watch the main event on Saturday. I've read a lot of people talk about how good of a race it was. I thought it was average. I think a longer race would have made it a little more interesting. The track couldn't hold the laps. At the same time this year they started checking for tire doping, caught some also. You just wonder if it had a little bit of banking what this could be. Hard to keep multiple grooves with that many cars and that many laps. It's driver error that is going to make it interesting, hard to expect that out of guys who routinely run 400-500 miles on SundaysI don't think I watched last year's race. My opinion. For those that just watched the final race of the Chili Bowl. You are right, it was a long way from the best races of the week. You aren't going to have much passing when you have 20 of the best racers in the last race. They don't make that many mistakes. Bell obviously the best or second best in the sport only passed 2 cars from 10th. If Bell was in the first 2 rows, it would have been show time. That kid Pursley is almost there, but he isn't going to beat Larson 9 out of 10 times. You just wonder if it had a little bit of banking what this could be. Their whole web site went down. They shot it over to Youtube and when they got their site back up, they left Youtube up also for everybody. Flo is bad ass.The only way to make it too tough for Larson and Bell to compete for the win at the Chili Bowl is either pop them for cheated up tires or go full NASCAR and redo the entire event (and especially the feature) to try and introduce some randomness to it. The only way I'll stop going to Tulsa is if they gimmick the hell out of this, so I hope to god they don't ruin a week long event to satiate the folks who will only watch the Saturday A-Main if it streams on YouTube for free.
I mean, I know all of that. My point is more or less that pleasing people who aren't customers and never will be while pissing off the people spending $400+ a year a head for tickets to actually attend or $150/year for Flo would be Less Than Ideal.Their whole web site went down. I'll take things that have never happened for 500 Alex.I mean, I know all of that. I'm still calling the ASCS hotline to talk to a Hahn family member every March to renew (in spite of the ASCS being sold now...twice), so I would hope that they are as slow about change in this as they are with the operations. Thank god it isn't on MAVTV anymore. The three hour intermission between D and C to make the TV slot was brutal. The Chili Bowl is too good for them to mess with the recipe (well at least I hope)
