They had a few D500 spots during the Packers/Eagles game last night. Nothing crazy but they did promote it three times I think. Folks were getting antsy since there hadn’t been much yet.

I think the Indy commmercial is really good though. Looking forward to seeing what they do with Pato and Palou in the next two. I’m feeling a good energy about the new partnership so far.

I’m not sure he’s done a PxP role since his GP2 days, so there might be a bit of a learning curve involved. But he’s a passionate race fan, a fan of IndyCar, and generally an engaging presenter. I think he’ll be pretty solid.
 
Rossi mentioned on his podcast w/Hinch a week or two ago that IndyCar and FOX are working to adjust the race lengths of about 5-6 of the road/street events, in part to reduce the number of 2-stop fuel save events and because the standard FOX broadcast window (2.5 hours) will be longer than some of the ones NBC allotted. Would be a great change if they open up some of the distances again. As a regular attendee of the event, I remember it was sometime during NBC’s tenure that St. Pete was cut from 110 to 100 laps.

Given how often the trucks wad themselves up and the two long mandatory cautions (plus any competition cautions they add in), yeah, I know what you're saying. But also, I much prefer 2 or 2.5 hour races. I don't want or need a 4 hour Detroit GP and I attend that.

Such a format change was brought to the table by Borchetta and Big Machine as a way to add value and drama to the finale.

Among the formats discussed in the early-stage conversations were a playoff-like setup similar to NASCAR, though one that would’ve been smaller in size, given IndyCar’s current 17-race regular season versus the Cup series’ 36 races (a 26-race regular season and 10-race playoff model). IndyStar understands that after surveying key stakeholders, Penske Entertainment felt like most partners were satisfied with the status quo because the championship has been decided at the finale in 18 of the last 19 seasons and the outsized effect such a change would have on the championship. No title race format changes were given more than an exploratory look.”

Why Penske Entertainment is taking over promotion of Nashville IndyCar race

The first three GPs ran through downtown. The race was moved to the 1.33-mile oval in the suburbs last season because of construction.

I'm bothered by the fact that a playoff system was even considered.
