Dodge got into trucks at the beginning (1995) and eventually joined Cup/BGN six years later. Toyota joined trucks in like 2003 or '04 or whenever, and made it to Cup/BGN a few years later. Hopefully this means a new manufacturer has plans to be in every series at some point

From the Catchfence article:
Dodge’s reentry into the series is expected to be more streamlined than its previous tenure. The introduction of the Ilmor spec engine in 2018 has standardized power plants across the series, reducing costs for team owners and easing manufacturer integration.
Now I don't remember this paragraph at the end of the article when I first read it. Maybe I missed it; maybe it was added?

Dodge is also searching for an engine manufacturer to provide power for a potential return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2028.

One of the bullet points shown on the pictured "doc" is the return of the 5.7L Hemi to the Ram brand. Truck will use the spec motor, but with an expansion to Cup/Xfinity could that 5.7L be the basis of the race motor for those series? Engineering types in here, what says you?

several former or current leaders, as well as other U.S. employees with the trans-Atlantic automaker, said Tavares' relentless focus on cost-cutting, his goal of achieving double-digit profit margins under his "Dare Forward 2030" business plan, and a reluctance, if not unwillingness, to listen to U.S. executives about the American market led to the company's current situation and, ultimately, Tavares' departure last week.

No, they use a spec motor in Trucks

My guess is they will dust off the NASACAR spec non-production based Cup/Xfinity engine the used before and simply update it to current standards and specs. Now that the engines are so restricted, it shouldn't be much of an issue. That engine was designed to have at least a couple hundred more horsepower than they need now.

All Truck Series entrants are required to run the 358 ci Ilmor pushrod V8 which is based on GM’s LS2 platform.

Are they actually? I always thought they could still run a manufacturer engine, however the additional offsets imposed on them dont make competition sense.
