Well, three poles for the #24 BMW have now been converted into three wins for the #7 Penske Porsche. At least BMW finally secured a podium this time. And Laurens Vanthoor, doing a one-off with Rexy in GTD, also caps off three in a row after being the third driver in the #7 at the Florida enduros.
They won’t quit coming here for a number of reasons, but once again both class winners didn’t change any tires, and the second caution spoiled any fuel drama within the GTP class. The series and the cars have outgrown a race of this length but the packed weekend schedule probably precludes a change to make it a proper 2:40 race. Let’s get to Laguna.
